CARE began working in Zimbabwe in 1992 in response to a severe regional drought. After establishing a drought mitigation program, CARE began longer term developmental programs with local partners in building small dams, strengthening local microfinance institutions, and launching projects to assist small businesspersons in the rural areas.

CARE Zimbabwe’s overall goal is to empower disadvantaged and poor households to meet their basic needs. Programs promote sustainable livelihoods of poor and vulnerable people.

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the project in line with internal guidelines and donor regulations

Key duties and Responsibilities
•    Develops Project Annual Operation Plan in line with Country Office requirements. 
•    Provides input into programme design and development processes.
•    Develops, reviews and updates project implementation plan (including project staffing, procurement, financial and vehicle use and other resources) 
•    Provides oversight of technical specialists and project partners and ensure quality implementation of project activities as per approved PIP.
•    Manages project material, assets, equipment, from project inception and closure 
•    Reviews and monitors the implementation of the M&E plan through the project M&E Specialists
•    Coordinates CARE’s input into surveys such as baseline, endline, process
•    Sets the learning agenda for the project and oversees the related process throughout the project life cycle
•    Ensures participation by the CARE project team in stakeholder meetings & community activities 
•    Receives project information from the Project team and prepares project reports in compliance with donor and internal requirements 
•    Develops staff on overall project objectives, implementation strategy, reporting systems and internal controls 
•    Monitors the overall welfare of staff (such as sickness, death of family, workload balance,), and takes the appropriate action for immediate assistance
•    Reviews project expenditure reports on a monthly basis and donor reports quarterly and provides feedback to Finance
•    Approves project expenditure in line with budget and approval limits in compliance with donor requirements and internal policies 
•    Represents CARE at national, regional and international meetings and provides feedback to the ACD through meetings and reports
•    Ensures that IASC principles and Safe guarding standards are met and maintained accordingly and ensures all suspected SHEA cases are reported.
•    Ensures that safeguarding information is disseminated to all relevant stakeholders.
 

•    Degree in Education, Gender or Women’s studies, Management, International Relations or equivalent.
•    7 years relevant experience in community development/ humanitarian work, with minimum of 3 years at a supervisorial/managerial level
•    Experience with education, adolescent/youth and gender transformative programming an asset. 
•    Sound strategic thinking and good planning skills including program/projects budget tracking in line with contractual obligations
