CARE began working in Zimbabwe in 1992 in response to a severe regional drought. After establishing a drought mitigation program, CARE began longer term developmental programs with local partners in building small dams, strengthening local microfinance institutions, and launching projects to assist small businesspersons in the rural areas.

CARE Zimbabwe’s overall goal is to empower disadvantaged and poor households to meet their basic needs. Programs promote sustainable livelihoods of poor and vulnerable people

Job Description

The incumbent will be responsible for building capacity to value chain producer groups and social enterprises and build business development capacity of stakeholders in line with organisational and project needs


Key duties and Responsibilities
•    Develops Individual Operating Plan (IOP) in line with project AOP and work plan and submits to Team Leader
•    Develops an operational plan for the project that includes implementation strategies
•    Contributes to the development of concept notes and project proposals through discussions for new program development
•    Identifies, assesses and registers groups and individuals for selected value chain
•    Participates in the development of suitable financial products by MFIs
•    Monitors periodic economic opportunity assessments and resultant enterprise implementation strategies in project areas by partners  
•    Identifies capacity needs within producer groups, identifies and engages the relevant stakeholder from Private sector and Government  with relevant expertise to address identified gaps
•    Identifies individuals particularly youths and groups for potential agriculture and non agric social enterprises development and support
•    Develops capacity of partners, groups and individuals in entrepreneurship and social enterprises.
•    Support the development of Business development training manuals
•    Contributes to  partner institutional assessments
•    Reviews partner reports and makes recommendations to the Team Leader
•    Compiling and submitting monthly BDS project summary progress reports to Team Leader
 

Qualifications

•    Degree in Business Studies/Economics/Entrepreneurship or equivalent
•    4-6years’ experience in technical capacity development on Entrepreneurship/Economic development within the NGO/Private Sector or other related field
