Job Description
Position Summary
CareFlite is seeking a skilled and dependable Ground Fleet Mechanic to support the safety and reliability of our ground ambulance fleet. This role is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure all vehicles remain operational and ready to serve our communities 24/7.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications on CareFlite ambulances
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and manual techniques
- Repair or replace components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
- Maintain accurate service records and manage parts and inventory
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and parts procurement
- Respond to roadside service calls and perform field repairs when possible
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
- Collaborate with operations to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption
- Participate in evaluation and selection of new fleet vehicles and equipment
- Stay current on automotive technologies and industry best practices
Work Environment
- Fast-paced maintenance environment supporting 24-hour EMS operations
- Requires flexibility to address urgent repairs and operational demands
- May require work in varying conditions including garage settings and outdoor environments

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience on applicable vehicle chassis
- Knowledge of fleet maintenance procedures and automotive systems
- Proficiency in the use of tools and diagnostic equipment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-stress situations
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certifications (Light Duty and Preventative Maintenance preferred)
- Experience supporting 24/7 EMS ambulance operations
- Familiarity with ambulance chassis and specialty vehicle systems
