CareFlite is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ambulance service sponsored by Baylor Scott & White Health, JPS Health Network, Methodist Health System, Parkland, and Texas Health Resources. CareFlite provides medical transport by helicopter, airplane, and ground ambulance, and non-medical transport via wheelchair van.
Job Description
The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain a clean and safe environment within CareFlite facilities. This includes cleaning floors, restrooms, offices, and common areas, restocking supplies, taking out trash, sanitizing surfaces, and ensuring all areas meet cleanliness standards. The Facility Care Specialist will also perform light maintenance duties as needed and respond to emergency cleaning requests promptly.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
- Clean and sanitize all designated areas within the facility, including restrooms, offices, hallways, and common spaces.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and trash removal.
- Restock cleaning supplies, toiletries, and paper products in all areas as needed.
- Handle emergency cleaning requests, including spills or unforeseen messes, with urgency and efficiency.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring proper functionality, and reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- Conduct light maintenance tasks, such as changing lightbulbs or replacing minor fixtures, when required.
- Inspect and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or cleanliness issues to management.
- Adhere to CareFlite’s safety protocols when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down spaces for events, meetings, or special activities.
Qualifications
QUALIFIATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, including vacuums, floor buffers, and other machinery.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks that involve standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergency requests if needed.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to make decisions, which have a moderate impact on the immediate work unit.
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
- Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
- Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
- Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
- Will often be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more.
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
