The Transportation Assistant provides general support to Capital City Fruit's Transportation Manager and fills in for the Transportation Manager.

Transportation Support

• Scheduling of preventive maintenance for tractors and trailers using fleet maintenance software and working with dealer 

• Coordinate assignments of fleet maintenance work orders to Facility Department employees 

• Assist in maintaining compliance with D.O.T. regulations for CCF Fleet and Drivers 

• Track and manage driver hours using ELD software & maintain drivers hours using time and attendance software

• Assist with the evaluating of the performance of drivers, including ride-a-longs with drivers 

• Work with Sales, Production, and Dock to route deliveries on a daily basis  

• Complete shipments and route trucks using operational software

• Make multiple delivery appointments with customers on a daily basis 

• Contact drivers to alert them of assignments 

• Organize delivery paperwork for routes on a daily basis 

• Collect and organize incoming delivery paperwork 

• Assist with maintaining driver files  

• Assist in auditing 4 Seasons Fund Raising DOT for compliance 

• Work customers to obtain back hauls for CCF trucks 

• Assist with tracking Transportation Department Data and Performance Metrics. Weekly data entry to maintain KPI’s and departmental scorecards. 

• Based on the schedule, handle after hours calls from CCF drivers needing assistance.  

• Cross-Train to cover for the Transportation Manager during days out of the office

Operations 

• Assist other departments and company leaders with special projects 

• College Bachelor’s Degree – Supply Chain or Logistics Management preferred 

• No experience needed 

• Ability to work with computer software programs – including Excel 

• Must have an interest in logistics

• Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively and courteously with Capital City Fruit, Inc., staff and customers 

• Ability to problem solve under a tight time frame 

• Ability to perform detailed and deadline-driven work 

• Ability to be creative in routing trucks while balancing efficiency and customer service

• Must possess the ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.

• Ability to interpret and work from oral and written instructions 

• Ability to move throughout the warehouse, including continuous physical effort

• Willingness to assist on special projects with other departments. 

• Must work in a safe manner and comply with all state and federal OSHA regulations

• Knowledge and ability to operate machinery and equipment in accordance with safety procedures 

• Must have general knowledge of produce industry, or willingness to learn. 

• Knowledge and ability to implement all safety procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures

Ability to work Tuesday through Saturday and ability to handle emergency calls on assigned nights. Flexibility to Cover other days of the week as needed.

Pay: Approximately $19.00/hour based on experience
