Job Description

Position Summary:

The Floor Sales Assistant will assist the Floor Sales Supervisor in taking orders and preparing produce for shipment [load and unload product] as it enters and departs through the warehouse Floor Sales doors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Courteously and accurately process and complete paperwork related to phone and/or in-person Floor Sales orders

  • Operate material handling jacks following proper training

  • Pick product from warehouse coolers and storage areas to accurately fill customer’s orders

  • Place cartons on pallets for shipment

  • Pack Floor Sales produce orders into cartons according to customer specifications

  • Grade produce according to physical condition of the product 

  • Sort produce by size and color 

  • Weigh cartons on scale to insure proper weight of product  

  • Accurately record lot numbers / item codes on pick slips for all produce items picked for customer’s orders 

  • May also do some customer delivery [must have a valid driver's license] 

  • Wrap Floor Sales orders on pallets to prepare for shipment 

  • Accurately check customer order over before loading 

  • Load Floor Sales orders into vehicles of Floor Sales customers 

  • Load bulk produce or palletized produce onto trucks 

  • Prepare and monitor product inventory quantities 

  • Keep #2 corner clean and organized - dump any bad product

  • Follow department start-up and shut down procedures (i.e. place product on sales displays)

  • A hat or hairnet, smock and gloves are required to be worn 

  • Required to clean work area - either before and/or after the shift; may involve scrubbing, moping, sweeping or other methods 

  • Assist Floor Sales Supervisor/Team Leader with various tasks related to the Floor Sales process 

  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Occupational Safety Procedure and all Food Safety guidelines related to the position or being on the Warehouse floor

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Lift and carry weights ranging from 0 to 25 pounds with frequency
  • Occasional lifting and carrying weights ranging from 26 to 75 pounds 

  • Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping 

  • Frequent standing 

  • Frequent operation of equipment 

  • Occasional climbing and reaching above shoulder height 

  • Frequent repetitive hand movements/grasping 

  • Good vision, corrected to normal 

  • Good hearing, corrected to normal; or ability to communicate/understand required information and to perform job duties 

  • Ability to be mobile throughout required work areas 

Qualifications

 

  • Average computer skills to be able to enter orders into Point of Sale programs
  • High School Diploma
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Ability to interpret sales orders in English and Spanish

Pay Range:

$13 - $14 based on experience

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM or when done (24-40 hours per week).
