Job Description

CapTech’s Controller is responsible for all Operational Accounting and Financial Reporting for the company. As an accomplished people leader and business advisor, the Controller’s first functional responsibility is Accounting Operations (client billing and contracts, accounts receivable, time and expense report processing, and accounts payable).  In addition, the Controller will lead month-end close, financial statement reporting, reconciliations, tax compliance, fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, and capital plan reporting.

Essential Functions

  • Develop cohesive, productive teams and cultivate future leaders
  • Role model and champion core values, feedback, and a culture of coaching
  • Lead operations staff to ensure continuous improvement in financial processing (Billing, AR, AP)
  • Lead general ledger staff to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close
  • Manage, Maintain, and Improve Financial Control environment
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close
  • Produce and /or Audit month-end reports, schedules, and financial statement packages
  • Produce and /or Audit company balance sheet activity, roll forwards, and account reconciliations
  • Review and Approve client contract accounting and revenue recognition compliance
  • Accounting policy research and development of an approach for new standard adoption
  • Ensure Income, Property, and License tax compliance with 3rd party firm
  • Lead year-end external audit process and financial control review with 3rd party firm
  • Partner with other departments to provide technical support on financial matters
  • Accounting point person on internal projects that require partnership with cross-functional teams and demonstrate out of the box problem-solving skills
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
  • Some minimal travel is expected for this position.

Qualifications

Skills and Education Needed:

  • Demonstrated excellence as an operations team leader with proven track record helping others grow.

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience Accounting Operations, including general ledger, monthly closing activity, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • 10+ years of people and work product management.
  • Subject matter expert in technical accounting systems
  • Subject matter expert in financial control and compliance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Expert level Excel skills, Workday Financials experience a strong plus
  • Expert level Project Management skills a strong plus
