Job Description

As a Data and Analytics Architect at CapTech you are tasked with understanding our clients’ business goals and creating data architectures, roadmaps and analysis to support clients’ various data initiatives. Your insights, experience and use of state-of-the-art tools/techniques will help build the best data solutions that would suit clients’ needs.

Specific responsibilities for the Data Architect position include:

  • Understand and interpret business and technology requirements to design new state of the art data architectures ensuring Data Quality, Data Security and other operational requirements
  • Evaluate current state architecture(s) and formulate strategic data migration and implementation roadmap(s) considering various factors that influence operations
  • Collaborate with end users, development staff, and business analysts to ensure that data architecture plans maximize the value of client data across the organization
  • Articulate architectural differences and advantages/disadvantages between solution alternatives and justify key architectural decisions
  • Participate in the gathering of functional requirements and offer insight in the functional design process
  • Initiate, evaluate, and influence data projects based on the perspective of the client’s entire organization
  • Set standards for data management and conceive projects needed to eliminate the gap between current state and future goals
  • Hands-on project and development work, as demanded by the project and client role

Qualifications

Specific qualifications for the Data Architect position include: 

  • Solid understanding of Data Management, Data Governance and Data Operations concepts
  • Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions/recommendations to business needs and client culture.  
  • Experience in the design and implementation of data architecture solutions at scale especially using modern cloud based and Big Data solutions
  • Solid understanding of at least one cloud infrastructure – AWS/Azure/Google BigQuery/SnowFlake
  • Experience and familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau and Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience architecting and building data pipelines using traditional data integration tools such as SSIS or Informatica and modern pipelines provided by major cloud providers
  • Familiarity with modern data architectures and concepts such as streaming, Big Data as a Service, schema on read and real-time data access.
  • Experience with at least two different RDBMS, such as Teradata, Oracle or MS SQL server. 
  • Ability to assess traditional and modern architectural components required based on business needs. 
  • Preferable experience across all phases of data modeling, from conceptualization to database optimization.   
  • Preferable knowledge of how to assess and diagnose performance problems, monitoring and tuning.
