Job Description

Important Note: Applicants for this job must reside in the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom and be legally allowed to work in your home country. The position is remote/work from home with travel of up to 20%.

Canyon GBS is accepting resumes until August 16, 2024. Interviewing will take place in September 2024. Candidates must be able to start in their new role in late October 2024.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Staff Developer to join our innovative team. As a Staff Developer, you will play a pivotal role in leading complex technical projects and initiatives, providing mentorship to other developers, and influencing the architectural direction of our products. This is a full-time salaried and benefitted role based in the USA, Canada, or the UK, with the flexibility to work remotely. Please note that some weekend work may be required, and some workweeks will be heavier than others due to project demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to complex software projects, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Mentor and guide other developers, fostering their growth and development.
  • Influence and make key technical decisions regarding the architectural direction of projects.
  • Utilize IDEs like VS Code and version control systems like git and GitHub to manage and review code.
  • Support development operations and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub actions.
  • Drive innovation by staying current with emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Ensure scalable, maintainable, and efficient software architecture design.
  • As a Staff Developer at Canyon GBS, you would be expected to travel up to 20% and represent us in the public eye globally with customers, partners, investors, and the community.

Qualifications

What your background looks like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (In exceptional circumstances, the educational requirements may be waived if management feels you have achieved a sufficiently high level of expertise and experience in the marketplace).
  • Extensive experience in software development, with a proven track record of leading technical projects.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and modern development methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Experience:

  • Proven expertise in Ionic, Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js, Vue, Laravel, Livewire, and Filament.
  • Extensive experience integrated artificial intelligence features in software using Azure chat completions and assistants APIs.
  • Proficiency in using remote development environments, particularly Coder.
  • Competence in deploying to test environments, using IDEs like VS Code, and managing code with git/GitHub.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of developers.
  • Experience in making architectural decisions and driving technical strategy.
  • Proficiency in GitHub actions and supporting development operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.

Location: USA, Canada or the UK only (Full-time, fully benefitted, salaried position)

Salary Range: Depends on experience (DOE) plus full benefits.

Note: For staff in Canada and the UK, salary rate may be adjusted periodically against its USD equivalent due to fluctuations in currency rates.
