  • Full-time

Job Description

Join the team empowering the world to design

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, こんにちは, 你好, hallo, नमस्ते, 안녕하세요, hola, salut!

At Canva, our mission is to empower the world to design—and we’re growing fast across the globe. With over 250 million monthly active users in over 190 countries, we’re on a mission to make Canva the most loved brand in the world. To support this ambition, we’re building a world-class marketing team that’s deeply local, highly creative, and relentlessly performance-focused.

We're looking for a Motion Designer & Video Editor to set the craft bar inside our creative pod in France. You'll be making motion for an audience of 250 million people, and you'll see what worked in the numbers every single week along side strategists, ops experts and world-class marketers.

About the role

As the Motion Designer & Video Editor for France, you’ll be making the best social-first motion content in the world. Learn from how it actually lands in partnership with creative strategists and media experts to come back more informed and produce better work next week.

You'll sit inside the local growth creative pod alongside our Copy Writer and Creative Operations Manager. You'll lead on Motion, be strong on edit and can bring your own strategic lense to work that works in the primary channels the world’s attention has converged to. As part of this role, you'll report to the Creative Strategist and work closely with the broader marketing and country team.

We're looking for someone who wants to be world-class at performance creative across social, YouTube and contribute to a broader high performance marketing team. You care that the work is good and that it works. You want a tight feedback loop with the numbers, you want to ship quickly and you want to be on a team where the bar is high and the cycle is short.

What you'll be doing

✨ Lead on motion, make the product feel like magic You'll animate Canva's design and brand assets into work that demonstrates what the product does and why it matters. This is the core craft of the role: using motion to make a product millions of people already love feel even more magical. Clean, fast, performant and visually distinctive.

🎬 Make work that performs and learn from the data every week You'll work inside sprint cycles where every piece you ship gets measured. Top performers scale; weak ones get killed. You won't be guessing, you'll have a tight feedback loop with what's actually winning in market, and you'll use it to push your craft forward sprint by sprint. The goal isn't perfect. It's the best version of the work, shipped this week, beaten next week.

🎯 Set the bar for performance creative in France. Creators give us volume. You give us craft, shipping our internal concepts, remixing from a growing content library, and setting the standard for what's possible across both short-form social and YouTube ads.

📺 Build world-class YouTube assets YouTube isn't an afterthought or a reformat of your TikTok cut. You'll treat it as its own craft, pacing, storytelling, polish, retention curves and ship work that stands up against the best paid creative on the platform. You know the difference between a YouTube ad that earns its 30 seconds and one that gets skipped.

🧠 Recut creator content with a feel for the platform You'll take raw creator and UGC footage and turn it into native-feeling work across Meta, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and beyond. You know what a hook is, you know how to find one in messy footage, and you can ship variants without losing the thread of what made it good in the first place.

🎨 Design motion assets across performance and brand Flex between always-on performance creative and bigger brand moments, across short-form social and longer YouTube formats. You can dial the polish up for a hero piece or the speed up for a weekly sprint, and you don't lose taste in either direction.

🤝 Support the broader marketing team Be a flexible craft resource for lifecycle, events, partnerships and brand campaigns when they need it. From time to time that includes light graphic design work, you're not precious about stepping outside the title.

🤖 Push the modern toolset hard You're already experimenting with AI and modern motion tooling, using it to speed up the boring work so you can spend more time on the parts that matter. You stay across what's new, you try things, and you bring the best of it back to the team.

You’re probably a match if you have:

  • 3–5 years of motion design experience with a portfolio that shows real shipped work across Meta, TikTok and YouTube. Short-form and longer-form formats that you can talk to from concept ideation through to results.

  • Strong fluency in After Effects or Cavalry. You can take a brief from concept to delivery on your own with Motion Design as core to your craft.

  • Solid video editing in CapCut, Canva Video and/or Premiere Pro. You're not aiming to be a world-class editor, but you're reliably good and you understand the social-first cut.

  • A real interest in social. You spend time on the feeds, you can tell when something is built for the platform vs ported onto it, and you have live opinions on what's working right now and why. You can craft curiosity gaps that gets attention and introduce the product seamlessly.

  • Comfort with a fast feedback loop. You see numbers on your work weekly. You're motivated rather than rattled by them, and you change direction without ego.

  • Experience editing creator content into performance-tuned social work, you know how to find the hook in raw footage.

  • Some graphic design literacy. You can step into a static asset job when the team needs it.

  • A working curiosity about AI tooling and a habit of experimenting with it in your craft.

  • Fluent French and good English, with a feel for cultural resonance in local creative work.

About the team

You'll be part of a highly collaborative, fast-moving, and passionate marketing team that blends creativity and data to make magic happen. In this role, you'll help Canva show up at its best in France and fuel growth by bringing performance and creativity together in every campaign.

What’s in it for you?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard, and we do, but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a range of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.
