Job Description

What you’d be doing in this role:

As Canva continues to scale, our internal technology platforms must evolve alongside the business.

As Head of Business Technology Platforms, you’ll lead the strategy, architecture, and engineering capability behind the systems that power Canva’s core business operations — including our Finance and People platforms.

This is a highly strategic leadership role within our IT organisation, responsible for ensuring these platforms are secure, scalable, and ready to support Canva as we continue to grow globally and operate at public-company scale.

You’ll partner closely with leaders across Finance, People, and Security, Trust & IT to shape the platform strategy that underpins how Canva runs, reports, and scales.

This role is focused on:

  • Setting the long-term technical vision, architecture, and strategy for Canva’s Finance and People platforms

  • Establishing strong governance and control frameworks across business systems to support auditability, compliance, and public-company readiness

  • Building and scaling engineering capability within our business platform teams, evolving from configuration-heavy systems toward platform ownership and technical depth

  • Defining Canva’s strategy for automation and AI adoption across internal business platforms, enabling smart and efficient operations

  • Leading strategic vendor relationships and ensuring platform partners deliver to Canva’s standards for quality, reliability, and innovation

  • Acting as a senior partner to Finance, People, and executive leadership, translating platform risk, architecture, and roadmap into clear strategic narratives

You're probably a match if

  • You’ve led large-scale enterprise platform, infrastructure, or internal technology organisations in high-growth technology environments

  • You have experience operating in — or preparing organisations for — public company environments, with strong governance, compliance, and controls expectations

  • You bring deep expertise across enterprise systems such as ERP, HRIS, or financial platforms, and have led major platform implementations or transformations

  • You think in systems — understanding architecture, integrations, data flows, and how platforms support business outcomes

  • You’ve built and scaled high-performing platform teams, moving organisations from reactive support models to proactive platform ownership

  • You’re an experienced senior stakeholder partner, comfortable working with executive leaders as well as technical teams

  • You bring strong vendor and partner leadership experience, including managing strategic technology relationships and complex platform ecosystems

About the team

IT at Canva is evolving into a modern platform-driven organisation — one that combines strong engineering capability, operational excellence, and governance foundations required for a global technology company.

The Business Platform team sits at the heart of this evolution. We partner closely with Finance and People teams to build the systems and infrastructure that power how Canva operates internally — from financial reporting and workforce systems to the platforms that support thousands of Canvanauts around the world.

We operate with high trust, low hierarchy, and a strong bias toward building things well, not just fast.
