What you'd be doing in this role

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. This role sits at the heart of our global growth journey, helping us bring Canva to life in every language and culture. You’ll partner across product, engineering, AI/ML and country teams to build localisation systems that scale globally while feeling deeply local.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Leading and evolving localisation strategy to support Canva’s Truly Local 40 vision
• Partnering with product, engineering and AI teams to embed localisation early in the development lifecycle
• Building and refining AI-driven translation systems, including prompt engineering and evaluation frameworks
• Driving automation and scalable processes that improve localisation quality, speed and consistency
• Collaborating closely with country teams to understand regional needs and translate them into global solutions
• Creating clarity in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment while balancing multiple priorities

You're probably a match if

• You bring strong experience in localisation, internationalisation or global product environments
• You have a builder mindset and enjoy creating systems, frameworks, and processes from scratch
• You’re comfortable working with AI/ML concepts, especially translation or evaluation frameworks
• You thrive in ambiguity and can turn complex problems into clear, actionable solutions
• You’re a strong collaborator who builds trust across product, engineering and regional teams
• You’re passionate about delivering great user experiences across languages and cultures
• You have experience with localisation tools like Smartling or similar
• You have familiarity with SQL or data analysis
• You have a background in linguistics, languages or localisation
• Extra points if you possess multilingual capabilities

Canva’s International Supergroup is responsible for driving growth and deepening adoption across our key regions worldwide. We are an entrepreneurial, cross-functional team that turns bold strategy into culturally resonant execution.

In each country, our mission is to empower all users to design and to make Canva one of the most beloved and culturally iconic brands in the country.

This is a senior role within the Localisation Group where you will be partnering with country teams, product teams, and AI/ML stakeholders to build the technical infrastructure for LOTE at Canva as well as robust processes to make sure Canva is LOTE-ready from the get go. You'll drive the design and execution of evaluation frameworks, promote innovation across the team and automate systems that improve the quality, speed, and scalability of localisation across all markets. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role for someone who loves building things that didn't exist before and has a knack for spinning multiple plates at once. You thrive in an environment where priorities shift, initiatives stack up, and no two weeks look the same.
