Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:
 

  • Design and deliver scalable Workday solutions that align with platform best practices and Canva’s unique ways of working

  • Own end-to-end solution design for high-impact system changes — from exploring ideas to validating edge cases and overseeing build and release

  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Workday Analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure designs are technically sound and business-aligned

  • Contribute hands-on to complex configuration where needed, and support others in maintaining consistent design quality

  • Collaborate with the broader Workday Platform team to embed strong engineering and release practices into how we work

  • Shape the evolution of Canva’s Workday platform by influencing design patterns, surfacing technical risks, and finding opportunities to simplify

You're probably a match if

  • You bring 5+ years of hands-on Workday experience, with depth in modules like HCM, Compensation, Payroll, or Time Tracking.

  • You’ve led at least two end-to-end Workday implementations, navigating complex configuration and cross-functional alignment.

  • You know your way around Workday tools -  from business processes and condition rules to security groups and calculated fields.

  • You design scalable solutions that balance Workday best practices with Canva’s evolving business needs.

  • You communicate clearly and confidently, creating quality documentation and guiding stakeholders through complex changes.

  • You thrive in ambiguity, proactively resolving edge cases and interdependencies.

  • You collaborate by default - working closely with product, systems, and business teams to drive meaningful outcomes.

  • You’re confident working asynchronously across time zones, with strong written and stakeholder communication skills.

  • You’re passionate about improving systems and ways of working - always looking for ways to simplify, scale, and uplift.

  • You care deeply about team culture and growth, bringing your expertise while supporting those around you to do their best work.

  • You have hands-on experience using AI in your work to drive greater impact

About the Group/Team

The Information Technology Supergroup’s vision is to maximise the potential of every Canvanaut through world-class technology and service.  The group consists of Business Platform, Technology Experience and IT Platform. The Business Platform Group owns the systems that power Canva’s business operations. This includes our finance, people and legal systems, and the foundational platforms that connect them.

We sit at the intersection of business and technology, deeply embedded in business domains, while building systems that scale Canva’s operations. Our goal is to empower every Canvanaut to do their best work by making our internal systems simple, scalable, and reliable.

The Workday Platform Team plays a critical role in enabling Canva’s business operations -  owning the technical architecture, integrations, release management, and controls for the Workday platform. Today, Workday supports core People processes at Canva, including HCM, absence, and (soon) payroll -  with future plans to potentially expand into areas like advanced compensation. As a platform team, our mission is to ensure Workday can scale effectively and reliably -  enabling secure, compliant, and well-integrated systems as Canva continues to grow.
