Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia, but with many of our Canvanauts calling the Philippines home, our office in Manila is a buzzing place. Whether your role needs you in the office, at home or a bit of both, we've created an environment that truly empowers you to thrive.
About the Role
At Canva, we’re all constantly striving towards our Crazy Big Goals! Since growing to a worldwide team of over 5,500 we need to ensure we’re working as effectively and efficiently as possible, which is where our Operational Business Partners come in. An Operations Business Partners works alongside the Leadership Operations role, as well as the Group Lead, and are responsible for improving how the group operates. The main goal is to ensure that the group is incredibly efficient & effective by setting processes and building out the groups operational foundations. In this role you will own the group's cadences, communications and goal tracking and organise team events and celebrations. You will coordinate special projects and drive them to unilateral success by coordinating and communicating between key project owners. In short, you'll be the chief wrangler of anything operationally within the group that needs focus.
Using your experience with program/project management, product operations, administration, and relationship-building you will work with cross-functional teams and working groups to help Canva to achieve the level of operational efficiency, cooperation & collaboration that our front-line teams need to hit our goals.
What you’ll do:
Own and elevate team operations
Build and maintain operating cadences, project tracking tools, retrospectives, and clear documentation practices.
Run the “engine room” of internal operations—ensuring the team’s time is spent on high-impact work and aligned to group priorities.
Identify inefficiencies and proactively redesign workflows, tools, or systems to improve how we operate.
Be a strategic partner to group and leadership teams
Collaborate closely with Group Leadership and Leadership Ops to translate vision into clear, trackable plans.
Help plan and sequence big-picture initiatives and goals, define success metrics, and ensure accountability across workstreams.
Act as a connector between stakeholders—bridging local context and global strategy.
Facilitate communication, alignment, and clarity
Proactively raise blockers, facilitate problem-solving, and drive context-sharing across specialties and teams.
Use storytelling, reporting, and forums to bring visibility to outcomes, risks, and learnings.
Own cross-team events, initiatives, and celebrations that promote connection and alignment.
Drive insight and foresight
Track performance and proactively flag emerging issues or opportunities.
Partner with Leads to anticipate resourcing, engagement, or operational challenges before they arise.
Constantly seek ways to make things better—whether it’s a system, tool, cadence, or behaviour.
What we're looking for
You have experience in operations, program management, or business operations—especially in fast-paced, ambiguous, or high-growth environments like startups, scale-ups, strategy & ops, or consulting.
You’ve led or contributed to designing internal systems and team cadences—whether that’s OKRs, comms frameworks, Jira boards, Sheets trackers, or performance scorecards.
You know how to partner with senior leaders, offering operational insight and structure to help them plan, prioritise, and problem-solve effectively.
You’re comfortable in the grey—when things are ambiguous, you don’t wait for answers, you help create clarity.
You’re a strong communicator who can zoom into operational detail when needed and zoom out to connect it back to the bigger picture.
You take initiative—you spot inefficiencies, blockers, or misalignments and act on them before they become problems.
You think in systems, holding complexity, context, and constraints while still moving toward the simplest and most effective solution.
You’re familiar with tools like Sheets, Jira, Confluence, Slack, and internal dashboards or feedback tooling to drive visibility and alignment.
