Job Description

Internal Job Title: Process Improvement Specialist | Work Hours: Monday - Friday, standard hours.

Job Status: Existing Vacancy 

     

    Position Summary

    As a Process Improvement Specialist in our Plant Operations group, you will be tasked with identifying high priority process improvements and leading initiatives that will resolve them and improve product quality and reduce spoilage and waste while ensuring compliance with standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

    This position acts as a service provider to Operations and will also be responsible for setting stretch goals and leading cross-functional teams to address challenges and obstacles associated with the development of effective solutions that will drive production efficiency.

     

    Core Responsibilities

    • Design, implement and maintain a prioritization rubric to identify and address high-impact process issues and perform ROI calculations for proposed solutions.
    • Operationalize and use the rubric to analyze production workflows and develop improvements using tools such as Lean and Six Sigma.
    • Develop and implement reliable solutions to process problems that meet the needs of operational stakeholders.
    • Lead projects to implement solutions with the collaboration of key stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate process documentation, SOPs, and engineering change notices.
    • Monitor quality and operational dashboards to identify ongoing improvement opportunities.
    • Various other responsibilities.

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
    • Fluency in English (read, write, speak).
    • Able to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret clearance.
    • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, engineering or related field.
    • Minimum 8+ years of experience in Science or Engineering related role with at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Expert knowledge of lean manufacturing methodology.
    • Advanced knowledge of chemistry, physics or material science.
    • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, change management principles and practices, statistics and data analysis.
    • Able to stand/walk for prolonged periods.
    • Able to travel approx. 1-2 weeks/year (on average).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
    • Proficiency with data analytics software (e.g. Power BI or similar).
    • Coding experience in Python.
    • Track record of delivering process improvements in a manufacturing environment.
