Camp Curiosity: Camp | School | Stables is located on a 50 acre farm in Doylestown, PA. We offer programs for ages starting 6 months to Kindergarten in our younger camp programs and Grade 1-9 in our older camp programs as well as adults. Camp Curiosity is home of Curiosity Shoppe, Toddler Center, Curiosity Farms & Curiosity Courts whose programs include Summer Camps, Clinics, Lessons, Classes, Preschool, Child Care, and Tennis.

Job Description

Each type of Summer Camp Counselor responsibilities will vary based on position:

General Summer Camp Counselor for Programs Age 2-6 and Grades 1-9:

  • Helping group move between activities based on his/her group's assigned weekly schedule. 
  • Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week.  Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games.
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
  • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.  This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
  • Help guide Junior Counselors and Camp Volunteers to have a deeper understanding of leadership and counseling skills.
  • Be Flexible and Fill in where needed. 
  • Have a great attitude!

Sport & Specialty Camp Counselor:

  • Helping group move between activities based on his/her group's assigned weekly schedule. 
  • Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week in sport area. 
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.  This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
  • Help guide Junior Counselors and Camp Volunteers to have a deeper understanding of leadership and counseling skills.
  • Be Flexible and Fill in where needed.
  • Have a great attitude!

Lifeguard:

  • Must have valid certification for the duration of the summer session in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training AND Water Safety Instruction (WSI).. 
  • Supervision of pool and pool area any time there are people present in the area. 
  • Maintenance of the pool and pool area for cleanliness, organization, free of litter, and safety. 
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.  This includes but is not limited to enforcing pool rules and safety procedures. 
  • Instruct age-appropriate swimming skills to campers based on guidelines by the ARC. 
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
  • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate pool check record on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Help guide Junior Lifeguards and Camp Volunteers to have a deeper understanding of leadership and counseling skills.
  • Be Flexible and Fill in where needed. 
  • Have a great attitude!

Snack Bar Manager:

  • Maintenance of the snack bar storage and tent areas for cleanliness, organization, free of litter, and safety. 
  • Prepare daily snack for campers. Order and pick up or schedule delivery of daily lunch from local vendors. 
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.  
  • Serve snack and lunch daily and open snack bar for campers purchases. 
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate lunch and snack bar camper accounts on a daily basis.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Help guide Junior Interns and Camp Volunteers to have a deeper understanding of leadership and management skills.
  • Be Flexible and Fill in where needed. 
  • Have a great attitude!

 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 yrs old
  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years Experience working with children or in area of instruction.
  • Pediatric First Aid & CPR Certifications and/or Lifeguard/WSI Certifications at time of hire or able to obtain one month before session start date.
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with independence, motivation, and responsibility.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
