Job Description

California Closets is seeking an experienced Journeyman Installer to join our installation team. The Journeyman Installer is responsible for the professional installation of custom storage solutions including closets, home offices, garages, pantries, entertainment centers, mudrooms, and specialty organizational systems.

This position requires exceptional craftsmanship, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to install complex custom systems independently while delivering a world-class customer experience. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in finish carpentry, cabinet installation, trim work, and advanced custom organization systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install custom closet, garage, pantry, home office, and storage systems according to engineered plans and company standards.
  • Interpret and execute installation plans, elevations, specifications, and CAD drawings.
  • Perform final field modifications as required to ensure proper fit and functionality.
  • Complete installations safely, accurately, efficiently, and with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Communicate professionally with customers throughout the installation process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite at all times.
  • Troubleshoot installation challenges and identify effective solutions in the field.
  • Train and mentor Apprentice and Junior Installers.
  • Perform quality inspections prior to project completion.
  • Complete all required installation documentation and project close-out procedures.
  • Ensure all installations meet California Closets quality standards and customer expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of cabinet, closet, millwork, finish carpentry, or custom storage installation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete complex installations.
  • Proficient use of hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, construction drawings, and CAD-generated plans.
  • Strong understanding of cabinetry, millwork, and finish carpentry techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work on ladders and in varying residential jobsite conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with custom cabinetry or architectural millwork.
  • Finish carpentry background.
  • Construction trade certification or apprenticeship completion.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, squat, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Work safely using ladders and elevated work platforms.
  • Load and unload materials from company vehicles.
