Job Description

The Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting of cabinet making equipment. This role includes using wood processing equipment such as a sliding table saw, boring machine, hinge insertion machines, and small hand tools .You will be producing one-off designs that range from basic closets to high-end cabinetry for some of the finest homes in Montreal and Ottawa.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment following all safety processes established within the facility.
  • Produce the required quality & quantity of parts within established specifications to maximize daily productivity expectations.
  • Maintain a log and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
  • Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment and perform basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Check products per company policy to ensure quality and uniform completion and resolve any identified problems. 
  • Responsible for on/off-loading of products.
  • Produce quality and error-free work.
  • Be an excellent communicator and collaborator with the team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Ability to work in all assigned areas of production and perform relief duties when needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements and use/read a tape measure. 
  • Ability to read basic Blue Prints and Parts Lists.
  • Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift.
  • Cabinet making experience a plus.
  • Forklift license and experience a plus.
  • Blue print reading a plus.
  • Skills on one or more of the following machines/workstations are an asset (if you have related experience please mention it in your application):
    • Sliding table saw
    • Boring machine
    • Hinge insertion machine
    • Drawer box assembly
