Job Description

In this role, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on the broad spectrum of Flood Control and Drainage projects ranging from Municipal through TxDOT related areas.  This will also include modeling, analysis and design of related projects statewide; not just locally.

  • Perform entry-level professional work including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under direct supervision.
  • Conduct preliminary engineering drainage evaluations and studies to identify stormwater management design improvement alternatives, compare options, and assist in making design recommendations as it relates to flood control and drainage design.
  • Assist in drainage analysis (Infoworks ICM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D) of reports, maps (ArcGIS), drawings (Auto CAD or Microstaion), aerial photographs, perform site visits, and review survey data to plan and assemble construction documents.
  • Perform construction plan preparation of portions of flood risk reduction projects under the direction of project engineer or senior CADD technician.
  • Assist in the preparation of quantity estimates.
  • Prepare construction, topographic and boundary survey layouts.
  • Be responsible for project quality on tasks assigned as defined in the Quality Assurance / Quality Control guidelines.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor of Science - Civil Engineering
  • EIT or having passed the state FE exam if awaiting graduation
  • 2+ years experience, preferably in the flood control market sector (internship is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Microstation
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, hydrologic modeling (ex. HEC-HMS), and hydraulic modeling (ex. HEC-RAS, Infoworks ICM)
  • GeoPAK Drainage experience is a PLUS
  • Valid driver license
  • A condition of employment for this position is complying with the company vaccination requirements.
