Job Description

The Willows, California plant produces fiber glass building insulation for retail, contractor, and commercial applications.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages maintenance, capital budget, and Management of Change process (MOC) for the facility.

  • Partners with Production Department to accommodate predictive maintenance activities, minimize downtime and scrap, and provide feedback regarding the status and availability of product equipment to Production Supervisor or Production Superintendent.

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with surveys, design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in plant.

  • Leads engineering and maintenance teams.

  • Partners with Health, Safety, and Environmental team to ensure compliance with standards, practices, and policies for pollution control, installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations.

  • Ensures equipment and facility function as planned to avoid downtime and scrap.

  • Identifies needs for major equipment repair and replacement, keeping in mind opportunities for improvement in efficiency, costs, environmental stewardship, and safety.

  • Directs execution of capital projects to meet timelines and approved costs.

  • Partners with Human Resources to ensure consistent application of HR related policies and practices.

  • Participates in meetings/calls to share information between plants/facilities and within the Willows Plant

  • Develops and implements preventive and predictive maintenance program(s) to improve reliability.

  • Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.

  • Manages maintenance, equipment, and engineering vendors.

  • Directs maintenance of plant buildings.

  • Tests newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.

  • Maintains facility including HVAC, building structure, grounds, etc.

  • Manages store clerk and MRO parts inventory

  • Maintains metrics related to asset care and reliability.

  • Travels as needed to accomplish above duties.


Qualifications

  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preference for mechanical engineer).

  • 4+ years experience in managing equipment maintenance and reliability.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs.

  • Solid knowledge and experience of predictive maintenance programs.

  • Working knowledge of power transmission, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

  • Working knowledge in electrical systems ranging from 110 to 4160 voltages.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage capital projects.

  • Knowledge and compliance experience with environmental and OSHA.

  • Proven project management ability.

  • Solid troubleshooting/problem solving.

  • Proficient user of EAM and/or CMMS

  • Must be able to meet the demands required in a 365/24/7 manufacturing environment with rotating shifts.

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience

  • Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal)

  • Proven teambuilding skills including facilitation and team member participation.

  • Proven leadership skills

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience organizing, developing, and managing groups of diverse personnel with technical and non-technical backgrounds

Ideal candidate will have a Bachelors in Engineer (Required) and experience 5 years  managing equipment maintenance and reliability and background managing engineers - progressive career experience

  • Experience with rotating equipment (conveyors).

  • Working knowledge of metals and fabrication.

  • Basic water balancing, treatment, quality, etc.

  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E.

  • Knowledge of SAP/ERP systems

  • Working knowledge of control logics and PLC experience (i.e. Allen Bradley).

    • Continuous Improvement experience (Six Sigma, Lean or 5S).
