Job Description

Gathers requirements and specifications from business and reporting teams based on analysis of business processes and interaction with business users and ITS business liaisons.

Identifies tasks necessary to develop Data Warehouse and ETL solutions based on defined requirements/specifications.

Estimates time necessary to complete required tasks.

Tracks and communicates status of on-going projects to managers, team members & other appropriate personnel.

Designs, codes and debugs Data Warehouse and ETL solutions based upon defined requirements and specifications.

Writes code that can be easily maintained and tested by others, by adhering to coding standards and including detailed code documentation.

Works with QA personnel to develop and carry out test plans to ensure that Data Warehouse and ETL solutions are of the highest possible quality.

Works with database personnel to design physical and logical databases to support present/future Data Warehouse and ETL needs.

Develops clear, detailed technical and user documentation that will facilitate support for developed Data Warehouse and ETL solutions.

Takes a leadership role in the team environment; encourages, coaches and mentors team members in acquiring the technical and behavioral skills needed to effectively produce Data Warehouse and ETL solutions which will best meet the needs of business customers.

Inspires and motivates team members to set high standards of excellence and commitment to a common goal.

Assists the lead developer in eliciting active participation from team members and helping to resolve conflicts.

Participates in the ongoing support and problem resolution of developed Data Warehouse and ETL Solutions.

Responds appropriately to urgent technical support situations and procedures with quick and effective solutions to business problems. This includes after hours work as needed.

Participates in design and code reviews with managers, peers and involved business personnel.

Acquires knowledge of existing Cartus systems and the underlying business processes they support.

Performs object management functions, as necessary:

Establishes and maintains a methodology and repository for reusable objects

Identifies potentially reusable objects in current Data Warehouse & ETL Solutions; refines and incorporates them into the repository

Researches and deploys new techniques and standards as defined

Handles relationships with third party object vendors


Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, information systems, or related experience.

Minimum 5 years experience in ETL or related development.

Small scale project management experience.

Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and a strong work ethic. A self-starter capable of work independently with minimal supervision.

Proven track record in meeting scheduled due dates.

Source code management processes and tools (preferred Team Foundation Server TFS

Operating Systems (NT, Windows, Oracle)

Other software: Toad, MS Office
