Job Description

The ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) Engineer focuses on providing an efficient software development lifecycle for the entire Technology team. The responsibilities require a complete understanding of TFS (Team Foundation Server). The ALM Engineer must have some knowledge of programming and understanding of build servers to assist with creating and maintaining tools used to deploy through our different environments including development, test, beta and production. You must have USA/Canadian Citizenship or your Green Card/EAD. 

 

Responsibilities

Create, edit and maintain build scripts and workflows using Team Foundation Server and eventually Git

Work with development, QA and project management teams to define work item templates, builds, automation and release mechanics

Help define best practices for source control, continuous integration, automated testing and release management

Program features, updates and own our build release site (Area51) to improve release management

Oversee primary code branches and code repositories and participate in periodic production code pushes after business hours

Administer Team Foundation Server settings and Area51 push scripts and site

Coordinate with DBAs to facilitate getting SQL scripts incorporated into the automated release management

Work with the infrastructure team for build changes and code pushes

Troubleshoot build, deployment, configuration and code issues through every step in the software development lifecycle

Use version control software to identify and track serial and parallel changes

Identify conflicts between parallel releases, and suggests mitigation strategies Communicate software lifecycle and build changes to the team

Provide visibility about application development to technology and business users

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience

Two years of programming experience in C#/.NET technology or similar

Two years of experience with Team Foundation Server or similar ALM software

Experience in maintaining and working with .NET technology, IIS servers and Windows environments

Experience in designing, building and maintaining an automated build and release environment

Familiarity with standard web servers (IIS, Apache)

Familiarity with server OS – windows, 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2

Good scripting skills – PowerShell preferred

Ability to complete responsibilities effectively and efficiently with minimal direction

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills

Good training/presentation skills
