Job Description
In support of ESOC’s ground segment engineering tasks, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Support to introduction of 2nd generation photonics-based frequency and timing distribution system for ESTRACK;
- Supervision of the frequency and timing distribution system of ESTRACK (1st and 2nd generation);
- Supervision of the UTC ESOC time realisation and associated systems;
- Support to photonics technology development for RF ground systems;
- Support to ground station developments: a. definition of technical specifications and statement of works;
- Participation to procurement tender evaluation boards in the role of technical expert;
- Design reviews, factory and site acceptance tests;
- Support to technology development activities:
- Definition of requirements;
- Preliminary prototype and bread boarding activities;
- Technical evaluation of achievements;
- Support to preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance;
- Support to operations during critical phases.
Qualifications
You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
- Master’s in engineering, Physics or similar relevant field;
- Hands-on experience in similar positions;
- Experience in ground station equipment handling;
- Experience in Frequency and Timing systems;
- Experience in technology development activities;
- Knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS standards;
- Participation in Ground Station systems and subsystems related meetings;
- Knowledge and experience in data communication systems involving e.g. modulation, demodulation, PCM telemetry and telecommand, communication protocols (TCP/IP, SLE), coding techniques, data processing;
- Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
