Job Description

The Director of Architecture provides enterprise technical leadership for the architectural discipline in support of CRB’s Technical Advancement Group. This role is responsible for advancing technical excellence by leading the development, deployment, and governance of discipline-specific technical standards, best practices, tools, systems, and institutional knowledge to support consistent, high-quality project delivery across the organization. The Director provides leadership for the development of discipline-specific training curricula and collaborates with regional resources to support the consistent delivery of training for design standards and technical capabilities across the markets served.

The Director of Architecture partners closely with Regional Discipline Leaders and Project Operations & Risk (POR), Design & Construction Operations, Global Project Delivery, Life Sciences and Quality to ensure effective integration of technical advancement initiatives with project execution, pursuits, and operational priorities. The role serves as a discipline technical leader and advisor, supporting CRB’s differentiation through consistency, innovation, and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise leadership for the assigned discipline(s) within TAG, ensuring alignment with CRB business objectives, technical standards, and project delivery priorities.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and governance of discipline-specific technical standards, best practices, tools, and delivery methodologies.
  • Drive evaluation, prioritization, and implementation of discipline-related technical innovations, systems, and solutions that improve project execution, quality, and efficiency.
  • Ensure consistent deployment and adoption of approved discipline solutions across project types, market sectors, regions, and office locations.
  • Provide technical governance and support to projects, including involvement in complex technical challenges, execution risk mitigation, and issue resolution related to the discipline.
  • Support proposal development, pursuit strategies, and Go/No Go processes by providing discipline-specific technical input, risk insight, and subject matter expertise as requested.
  • Curate and maintain institutional discipline knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices, promoting effective knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Foster discipline communication and collaboration through communities of practice, technical forums, and structured engagement with regional teams.
  • Partner with regional leadership within the discipline and business to support rollout of TAG initiatives and identify technical capability gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to planning and prioritization of discipline initiatives to balance innovation, standards maintenance, and project support needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in discipline-specific technical Leadership, design, engineering, or project delivery within the AEC industry.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, or governing technical standards, best practices, tools, or systems.
  • Strong understanding of design, engineering, and construction delivery for complex and technically demanding projects.
  • Professional licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting life sciences, advanced manufacturing, or food & beverage projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute discipline-level initiatives involving standardization, innovation, and change adoption.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior Leadership, regional discipline leaders, and project teams.
