Job Description
The Global Strategic Opportunities Lead Estimator will support significant projects for the Life Sciences and Food and Beverage industries at CRB. As part of CRB’s Project Operations & Risk group, this position reports to the Director of Estimating and focuses on tasks directed by the Vice President of Global Project Delivery. Engagement will occur throughout the conceptual and schematic design phases, where this role is responsible for using conceptual scope and cost modeling techniques to develop accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for CRB’s core markets.
Additionally, the estimator has a key role in the pre-construction phase, supporting the conversion of opportunities into future projects. This client-facing position requires the ability to effectively communicate complex cost-related information to clients, ensuring transparency and fostering trust.
The estimator collaborates closely with project teams to ensure that estimates align with project goals and budgets. As design progresses, this role involves managing trades or discipline estimators to develop detailed estimates that include labor, material, and other breakouts to support successful transitions to execution teams.
When not supporting GSO projects, this position will support the business from the POR center group, often leading and developing cost estimates for other operational teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive conceptual and schematic cost estimates for all divisions and systems in support of engineering, construction and integrated delivery projects.
- Utilize historical data, quantity take-off, unit pricing, and systems/line count methodologies.
- Present estimates and cost models to project teams and clients.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.
- Lead risk analyses from both CRB and client perspectives.
- Maintain and update historical cost data and benchmark information.
- Manage and coordinate with trade or discipline estimators to develop detailed estimates.
- Manage estimating workload for GPD and work with the Director of Estimating on support needs.
- Responsible for quantification, pricing, reporting, and presentations of estimates
- Function as a Discipline Estimator or Lead Estimator when workload requires
- Maintain relationships with national trade partners
- Maintain historical data
- Mentor and train staff
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience.
- Fifteen years of experience in multi-discipline estimating or design-build lead estimating for Life Science, Food and Beverage, Industrial, and Commercial projects preferred.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to produce comprehensive conceptual and detailed estimates across all disciplines.
- Previous experience with establishing construction logistics, developing schedules, and performing constructability reviews.

- Ability to work independently without supervision as well as part of a team
- Able to manage oneself and others under tight deadlines.
- Able to organize, plan and manage multiple activities and personnel (engineers, estimators, and other collaborators), at times across multiple offices, to accomplish desired results
- Understand market-specific standard construction details, drawings, and means and methods, and be able to leverage these as assumptions during conceptual estimation.
- Knowledge of estimating practices and procedures with the ability to learn new technology.
- Proficient in industry-standard software for design authoring and construction estimating.
- Have strong math and analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Be able to produce conceptual schedules in MS Project or P6.
- Understand and deploy methods for projecting project cash flows.
- Ability to travel 20-25%.
