Job Description

As an Electrical Engineer at CRB, you'll have the unique opportunity to work within an integrated Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firm capable of executing ONEsolution integrated project delivery work. How will I contribute?

You will focus on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, special systems (e.g., telephone/data, security, fire alarm), raceway, cable tray, and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment.

You will manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities, and be responsible for overseeing the Electrical discipline scope of work and discipline budget on small to medium projects of intermediate complexity. You will coordinate with internal and external architects and engineers, as well as clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers.

Typical tasks and deliverables include power load, illumination, short circuit, and voltage drop calculations; basis of design reports, code evaluations; one-line diagrams; plans; schedules; installation details; specifications; and coordination with manufacturers and construction trade partners. Tasks will include utilizing software for building information modeling, computer-aided drafting, and engineering calculations. Project work includes directing design activities for all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical systems of intermediate complexity in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design.
  • Coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers
  • Develop narratives, reports, and construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on small projects of intermediate complexity and with little oversight
  • Support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports
  • Plan and direct work and manage a project electrical design budget on small to medium-sized projects of intermediate complexity
  • Support proposal development under the supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer
  • Identify basic non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys
  • Develop basic internal electrical design and engineering training presentations
  • Utilize various platforms to execute work, such as Microsoft Office products and available BIM software.
  • Attend professional development activities
  • Lead quality check efforts for small projects of intermediate complexity and drive overall project quality
  • Provide mentorship to less experienced Electrical Engineers and/or Designers
  • Lead systems design programming and master planning on intermediate projects with support from Design Lead or Senior Engineer
  • May work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor.

Office Location: Creve Coeur (St Louis, MO 63141)

Work Mode: Hybrid - 3-4 days per week in office expected

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Engineering Technology
  • Five years of experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration in good standing required, preferably for the State of Missouri
  • Relevant AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) design firm experience, preferably focused on life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, industrial, food & beverage, or other complex project typology
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Experience with performing engineering calculations, and developing and implementing electrical lighting, power, and special systems design
  • Experience with using and applying electrical codes and standards (NFPA, IESNA, UL, OSHA, and/or IEEE)
  • Proficient at intermediate electrical lighting, power, and special systems design calculations with limited supervision
  • Intermediate experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and providing support for field reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments
  • Proficient with intermediate internal and external coordination with cross-discipline project teams, construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers
  • Ability to travel for client development and project execution (approx 4-5 days per month)
