Job Description

The Southeast Region Lead Design Architect  is an energetic, self-motivated, and dynamic team-oriented individual that has a desire to help CRB continue to advance its architectural capabilities and industry presence.   Across advanced technology markets such as science & technology, cell & gene therapy, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and food & beverage, this individual will work with Southeast regional leaders across architectural, engineering and construction disciplines to help develop the balance of technical and design excellence within CRB’s architecture practice.  The architect will have three primary project-based tasks: to help win, calibrate, and enable the success of architecturally driven projects.  Additionally, this individual will be empowered to lead, drive, and develop a robust design culture across the Southeast Region.  

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing tactical and strategic leadership/direction needed to achieve architectural design excellence within the region 
  • On larger design driven projects, act as the Lead Project Designer and work in unison with the Project Architect and/or Professional of Record (POR) to:
    • Assist in facilitating design charrettes with client and project team
    • Helping  to develop design concepts with the project architect and architectural staff
    • During design development, review design-related details, MEP coordination, and identify approaches and solutions to ensure and enhance the design concept
    • During bidding and value engineering, partner with Project Architect to define the project design value and help team make the best value engineering decisions
    • During construction, attend critical construction meetings, review submittals, and construction progress updates as determined necessary by Project Architect and Project Managers.
  • Assist in facilitating regular design reviews at project inception and prior to completion of concept design as needed (the Project Architect and project team will lead and drive the decisions)
  • Develop strategic approaches to win and execute design driven projects for the region’s core clients and project types
  • Attend monthly design meetings with national and regional leadership to create a consistent design process across regions
  • Mentor architectural staff, including junior  staff
  • Function as a guide, both internally and externally, for architectural design focused questions, clients, projects, and pursuits
  • Special projects as needed

 

Qualifications

  • A Master of Architecture or Professional Degree in Architecture from an accredited architectural program 
  • Architectural licensure, in good standing, is required with the ability to easily obtain reciprocity (NCARB certification) in relevant states as required
  • 12 plus years’ of full-time professional experience
  • Proficiency in  Revit, Enscape, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, listening, strategic thinking, and leadership skills
  • Previous businesses development, client management, and effective presentation experience
  • Ability to mentor and assist with the development of CRB staff design capabilities
  • Ability to travel moderately 
  • Experience working within the science & technology, cell & gene therapy, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or food & beverage industries is preferred  
  • Experience working with sustainability certification programs is preferred (LEED, WELL, etc.)
