Job Description

As an Architectural Group Leader, you'll have the unique opportunity to work within an integrated Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firm capable of executing ONEsolution integrated project delivery work. Experience collaboration and continuous learning like never before amongst subject matter experts spanning across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, and automation engineering; architecture and lab planning; procurement, estimation, virtual design & construction, health & safety, and construction management. This diversity of professionals allows us to provide innovative & impactful solutions to the Life Sciences and Food & Bev industry in an era where speed, quality, and creativity have never been more critical. 

How will I contribute?

The Architectural Group Leader will provide architectural leadership by cultivating the professional development of their team. Specifically, the Architectural Group Leader will conduct goal planning exercises, perform employee reviews, and lead regular coaching sessions to guide their reports through meaningful project assignments and customized career development plans. The expectation is that the Architectural Group Leader will spend 15-30% of their time engaged in these management functions, based on the number of your direct reports. For the remainder of their time, you will continue to operate as an Architect.

As an Architect, you'll execute and lead small projects through all phases of design, documentation and administration, as well as actively support large projects within an expanded team setting. This position encourages creativity in problem solving to promote technical and design excellence while ensuring building code and regulatory compliance. Project size, type and responsibility will vary, including renovation and new construction opportunities.  Project work may include all levels of design, including studies, conceptual design, design development, detailed design and construction administration.

Group Leader Responsibilities:

  • Personalized development planning of staff from a technical and soft skill perspective
  • Provide technical guidance for career planning, reviews, and goal planning
  • Assist with employee work assignments – matching up team on projects that align with their current skillsets and contribute towards their goals
  • Serve as mentor and identify mentors to facilitate growth technically and professionally in accordance with each person’s unique skillset and passions
  • Act as an employee advocate by championing on behalf of team and playing an active role in their overall fulfillment
  • Help continue to identify and develop new leaders and future owners in the organization

Architect Responsibilities:

  • Work independently to execute all phases of design, including programming, planning, concept development, detailed design and construction administration.
  • Attend meetings to identify, evaluate and document client, code and programming requirements.
  • Ability to understand project drivers and implications in order to develop creative solutions
  • Generate design and construction models and associated documentation utilizing Revit or other BIM software.
  • Ability to generate code analyses, life safety and egress plans, floor plans, sections, elevations, details and schedules as part of a comprehensive construction document package.
  • Develop and generate studies, presentations and reports.
  • Research and apply International Building Code and other regulatory requirements as part of project delivery process.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Construction personnel to develop and ensure coordinated and constructible designs.
  • Participate and contribute during drawing reviews, coordination meetings and quality checks.
  • Provide mentorship to Architectural Intern / Design staff.
  • Act as Architect of Record for small projects

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Accredited Professional Degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch, and/or D.Arch) or Canadian / International equivalent
  • Architectural license in good standing within home state, with ability for reciprocal licensure through NCARB
  • Fifteen (15) years professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCARB Certification
  • Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with Enscape, Rhino or other 3D modeling/visualization software
  • Relevant knowledge of International Building Code, OSHA Regulations and ADA Standards
  • Ability to interface with clients and external partners
  • Flexibility for moderate travel in support of project-based or training activities
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • LEED Accreditation, WELL Certification or similar sustainability credentials
  • Knowledge of, and/or experience with advanced technology industry projects including R&D labs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food & nutrition and/or consumer products

The pay range for a candidate selected for this position who is based in Irvine is typically $107,800 to 172,500 annually. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. The selected candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, including but not limited to work location, qualifications, and relevant experience. In addition, CRB offers a total rewards package that includes comprehensive insurance coverage as well as the opportunity to participate in one or more annual incentive programs based on company and individual performance.
