Job Description

As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you'll have the unique opportunity to work within an integrated Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firm capable of executing ONEsolution integrated project delivery work. Experience collaboration and continuous learning like never before amongst subject matter experts spanning across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, and automation engineering; architecture and lab planning; procurement, estimation, virtual design & construction, health & safety, and construction management.

How will I contribute?

You will be responsible for coordinating with internal and external architects and engineers, as well as client, construction manager, subcontractor, and vendor interfaces. Beyond your engineering capabilities including the ability to develop and implement engineering and design concepts for HVAC, plant and clean utilities, compressed gases, plumbing, and fire protection systems, you will have the challenging opportunity to show your ability to handle multiple complex tasks and have business and personnel management skills including the ability to establish and manage priorities and to market services to clients.
Project sizes will vary and consist primarily of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or industrial process projects including both existing building renovations/retrofits and new construction

  • Developing HVAC, plant and clean utility, plumbing, and compressed gas system philosophies as well as Mechanical / Utility equipment and construction specifications
  • Developing airflow diagrams, pressurization plans, and classification; also, ductwork and piping plans
  • Developing building management system (BMS) control philosophy, details, Sequence of Operations, and plans with I&C engineers
  • Creating P&ID’s, equipment plans, plant / process utility distribution plans, and system details
  • Directing activities of Mechanical CAD and Designer support staff as well as use CAD and modeling programs as necessary
  • Traveling as required for client development and project execution

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or equivalent
  • at least 6-8 years of experience, much of this preferably in a design firm setting

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD required and Revit preferred
  • Ability to lead a project and design effort from a mechanical / utilities perspective from concept design through start-up
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or industrial process projects preferred including Knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Ability to travel a moderate amount as required (DACH Region)
  • Fluent in German (C1+), strong English level (B2+), French is a plus
