Job Description
As a Manager, Compensation, you will support the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive compensation programs to attract, retain, and motivate employees. Leveraging your expertise, you will ensure alignment with organizational goals, industry standards, and legal requirements while providing strategic guidance to senior leadership.
Team Description
You will be reporting to the Director, Compensation, within Total Rewards. The Total Rewards group ensures that CPPIB’s compensation, pension, benefits, and wellbeing programs are designed and implemented in a way that enables the firm to attract and retain high caliber talent.
Accountabilities:
- Own discrete compensation processes and/or programs which require domain expertise
- Act as the primary partner for assigned business groups and serve as a strategic advisor on complex compensation matters
- Lead market benchmarking and compensation analytics to ensure competitiveness and internal equity, leveraging external data and internal insights.
- Conduct complex job evaluations, market pricing, and formulate strategic recommendations supporting business requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies governing compensation, implementing processes for audits and reviews to maintain adherence and mitigate risks.
- Effectively communicate compensation policies, programs, and changes to employees and stakeholders, providing education and guidance to ensure understanding and engagement.
- Manage relationships with external vendors such as consultants, and technology partners, overseeing service delivery and negotiating contracts to optimize value and quality.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of compensation programs, making data-driven adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on complex compensation, inquiries, issues, and concerns, fostering a positive employee experience and promoting transparency and trust.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field
- 6+ years of experience working in a compensation function.
- Experiencing leading pieces of work focused on designing, implementing, and managing compensation programs.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively engage senior level stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to compensation, with experience in ensuring adherence and mitigating risks.
- Experience working in Financial Industry will be an asset.
- Advanced practical experience using MS Office and various HRIS applications (Experience with Workday is an asset)
