Job Description

The Director, Fund Communications primary responsibilities include managing CPP Investments’ public information initiative to more than 22 million Canadians. The role will require solid experience in marketing, communications and program strategy development, digital/social media executions, paid media strategy development, buying and data analytics. Our mandate of helping Canadians better understand who we are, what we do and how it benefits them in retirement reinforces CPP Investments’ mandate of expanding our brand reach and increasing awareness and trust amongst Canadians.

Role-Specific Accountabilities:

Marketing and Program Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Develop strategies and tactics to boost the brand and drive awareness, favourability and intent to understand amongst target markets
  • Develop and implement successful public information programs from ideation to execution
  • Build strategic relationships and partner with key internal stakeholders, agencies and vendors
  • Support and oversight of CPP Investments’ corporate visual identity and oversee development of brand assets, go-to-market strategies of our brand across platforms, brand-related projects, and institutional marketing materials. 

Digital/Social and Paid Media Placement Expertise

  • Oversee communications materials and how they connect/integrate with website content, digital display, social media and native content
  • Lead, develop and execute cutting-edge digital programs from conception to launch in collaboration with the digital team
  • Working cross-departmentally to align integrated program strategies and goals across the organization
  • Building out media buys for various ad platforms and overseeing the day-to-day execution of paid media
  • Conducting in-depth research on ad grouping, platforms and audience targeting
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies

Data/Analytics

  • Provide ongoing actionable insights into program performance, gain insights and assess against goals to relevant stakeholders (ROI and KPI’s)
  • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the results
  • Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points
  • Distill complex information into compelling, concise content and produce reports for a variety of audiences

Execution, Experience and Delivery

  • Actively monitor the ongoing delivery of a stakeholder experience through the key foundational touchpoints. Ensure that those experiences are delivered in accordance with the evolving requirements of our key stakeholder groups.
  • Provide oversight of teams tasked with addressing gaps in the delivery of a consistent experience.

Qualifications

  • Proactive approach, strong leadership and strategic thinking are critical
  • Minimum seven years experience working within a corporate or agency environment overseeing development of public information, marketing and communications campaigns and materials, liaising with agencies and vendors
  • Solid understanding of marketing as a set of organizational processes and behaviours aimed at ensuring a consistent stakeholder experience.
  • Fluency in digital communication channels, social platforms, paid media buying, and data analytics required
  • Ability to work with and influence senior individuals in the updating of marketing materials
  • Experience working in financial services an asset
  • Demonstrated skill in speaking and writing clearly
  • Detail and results-oriented and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • High-performing team player with a collaborative approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with senior team members
