Job Description

Join our growing Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness (TM&OE) function and lead the elevation and activation of global talent practices and employee engagement in support of CPP Investments’ multi-year transformation journey to $1 trillion assets under management. Do so by closely partnering with, and skillfully influencing, internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Managing Director of TM&OE, this is one of two Directors who will lead best-in-class global talent management and organizational effectiveness programs/processes aligned to strategic objectives (such as performance management, development planning, potential identification, succession management, competency model management, executive coaching and assessment management) to advance the identification, performance, development, diversity, retention, engagement, experience and readiness of employees and leaders, and enable future talent needs to be realized.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading, managing, developing, and coaching a team of talent management and organizational effectiveness professionals to advance capabilities and achieve and sustain best-in class programs, processes and practices
  • Partnering with our Talent Business Partners, ED&I and other COEs, business partners, Public Affairs & Communications and external vendors to continuously evolve and effectively implement and communicate talent programs/processes to meet the future needs of the organization
  • Leading a multi-year implementation of a recently redesigned potential identification, talent review and succession planning framework across the organization – in partnership with the Talent Business Partners and other COEs – to build a diverse and ready pipeline of high-potential successors for business-critical roles, and ensure future talent and business objectives can be met
  • Leading the performance management program (objective setting, check-ins, calibrations, year-end assessments and promotions) and development/career planning practices, which includes conducting a current-state assessment of the performance management program and redesigning as needed to enable a best-in-class approach and alignment with enterprise culture transformation objectives – this includes processes, system integration, change management, tools/resources
  • Leading the design, implementation and change management of a coaching and assessment strategy in support of talent pipeline development, including the establishment of a framework for psychometric tool and vendor selection and evaluation
  • Setting and leading a measurement strategy to assess and monitor the effectiveness of talent management programs/processes and identify enhancements that will drive meaningful change
  • Conducting and leveraging analytics, expertise and ongoing research on global leading practices and trends to deliver data-driven insights that advance strategic priorities and objectives – this includes establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and peer organizations to support benchmarking

Qualifications

 

  • Deep experience developing and leading large global transformational talent management and organizational effectiveness programs/processes and change initiatives, preferably in the financial or professional services industry
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree or college diploma in related field (i.e., Human Resources Management, Business Management) is preferred; professional designation (e.g., CHRE, CCMP) is advantageous
  • Demonstrated business acumen, project management, change management and design thinking in complex, global organizations
  • Proven track record of internal and external relationship-building, influencing and cross-functional partnership skills to drive stakeholder buy-in and sponsorship for talent program/process strategies
  • Highly analytical – a demonstrated practice of sourcing, reading and interpreting data to draw conclusions, make recommendations and ensure data-driven decisioning
  • Proven ability to make the complex simple and to organize and present complex information/concepts in a persuasive manner
  • Current knowledge of the market, vendor landscape, emerging and leading global trends, research, and practices
  • Accomplished in identifying business needs, opportunities, talent solutions and recommendations in an ambiguous, fast-paced and constantly evolving environment
  • Demonstrated ability to inclusively lead, inspire and develop diverse relationships across all levels of the organization and beyond
