Job Description

As an Senior Engineer in Private Equity Technology, you will be responsible for building and supporting end-to-end technology solutions to assist with all aspects of the investment lifecycle for the Private Equity business group and Investment Operations group supporting private investments.

Reporting to the Director of Private Equity Technology, in partnership with peer Technology & Data team and a variety of business departments, this role will have a unique opportunity to work as part of a multi-year initiative transforming our technology landscape in the Alternative Investment space to support CPPIB 2025 Technology and Data Strategy. You will see the unique engineering challenges and how your software is impacting the investment activities and delivering long-term value to the CPP Fund for the benefit of 22 million CPP contributors and beneficiaries.

Major Accountabilities

  • Design and build robust, resilient, and scalable technical solutions by working closely with peer Technology & Data teams and our business partners.
  • Drive software delivery through prototyping exercises to solicit early user feedback and discover appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain and enhance existing applications.
  • Effectively unit test and perform integration testing on software components.
  • Prepare and document design and program specifications.
  • Provide operations support on a rotational basis.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to team members and support staff through application demos, walkthroughs, and documentation.
  • Provide responsive business assistance while adhering to processes required for quality enterprise-level software development and support.
  • Help foster a positive team environment and maintain a good relationship with our business partners and peer teams in Technology and Data

Qualifications

  • A proactive, high-energy attitude with a history of implementing quality code and best practice
  • Excellent communication, attention to details and relationship management skills, with an ability to naturally influence others and sell ideas effectively to stakeholders at various levels.
  • 5+ years of experience as technology lead driving full stack development including front-end and backend (e.g. Angular, JavaScript, Python, Java, SQL, databases) with strong mindset in DevOps and Agile delivery approach, and a passion to keep up to date in technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, building, and delivering cloud-based applications on AWS.
  • Solid hands-on experience in cloud-native design, event-based microservices architecture.
  • Results driven, effectively manage expectations and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Business domain knowledge and experience in the Private Equity Investments preferred.
  • A university degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
  • Commitment to CPPIB guiding principles of integrity, partnership, and high performance.
