Job Description

CM Labs is looking for a curious and hands-on technical writer/user assistance developer with a passion for helping customers get value from our simulation solutions as quickly as possible. 

The Information Developer is responsible for articulating learning objectives, producing instructor guides and HTML help systems, and maintaining a library of existing documentation on Confluence. 

In addition to authoring, the Information Developer is a passionate customer and usability advocate throughout the software creation process. The Information Developer works closely with Solution Engineers, Level Designers, and QA to ensure client information needs are met. 

He must have the ability to balance scope and documentation requests with technical limitations, budget concerns, and subject matter expert requests, under the guidance of the Director of Simulation Solutions.

  • Collaborate with solution engineers, mechanical engineers, level designers, and QA to produce instructor guides and HTML help for heavy equipment training simulators
  • Innovate content delivery strategies
  • Support sales and business development requests for product information
  • Review and revise UI text
  • Articulate training objectives and learning outcomes for new training modules
  • Act as a passionate customer advocate on Agile development teams
  • Ensure style guidelines are followed across projects
  • Develop best practices, templates, and style guidelines within the team

Qualifications

  • Comfort with mechanical engineering information and concepts
  • Ability to autonomously manage several projects at the same time, flexibly offering solutions to ensure documentation and user assistance meets customer needs and budget
  • Demonstrated ability to produce concise, engaging, and informative customer-facing documentation
  • Constructive and fearless editing skills
  • 3-5 years of experience producing customer-facing documentation for hardware and software solutions
  • Experience with XML authoring tools and DITA
  • Experience with MadCap Flare
  • Experience with SVN
  • Experience with CSS
  • Experience with Agile development environments and cross-functional teams
