Job Description
Are you passionate about hydraulic structures and eager to apply your geotechnical expertise to large-scale projects?
We are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with solid experience in the design of dams, dikes, and other major hydraulic structures. In this role, you will play a central part in the analysis, design, and technical supervision of major projects, while acting as a key resource for both the team and clients.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary Hydropower & Dams team, which is involved in all phases of project delivery: design, technical analysis, commissioning, and monitoring. Collaborating with structural, hydraulic, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical teams, you will contribute to a wide range of mandates related to the construction, rehabilitation, or maintenance of hydraulic infrastructure in Québec and across Canada.
You will have the flexibility to choose your work location from any of our offices across Canada.
Please note: a strong command of French is absolutely required for this role.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead complex geotechnical analyses for dams, dikes, and other hydropower structures.
- Oversee technical design and the production of deliverables: drawings, specifications, reports, cost estimates, recommendations, and permit applications.
- Plan, supervise, and interpret investigation campaigns (drilling, testing, instrumentation).
- Perform or validate advanced analyses: stability, seepage, settlement, foundations, and dynamic assessments.
- Contribute to project management (multidisciplinary coordination, team supervision, client relations) and participate in dam safety reviews (DSRs), specialized inspections, and mentoring activities.
Qualifications
- Degree in civil or geological engineering, with a master’s in geotechnical engineering (strong asset).
- At least 15 years of experience in the field, including design or rehabilitation projects for dams, dikes, and other hydraulic structures within hydropower complexes.
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Proficiency in geotechnical modeling software: GeoStudio (Geo-Slope), Plaxis, FLAC, Settle3, etc.
- Experience in dynamic soil analysis and seismic design (asset).
- Excellent skills in technical writing, communication, knowledge transfer, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfortable working in both French and English, spoken and written (essential for pan-Canadian projects).
- Recognized ability to guide, advise, make technical decisions, and support the professional development of team members.
