Job Description
The CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are in the middle of a large growth trajectory. This means new, exciting complex projects that you will have the ability to shape and be a part of. As a Telecom Engineer, you will be engaged in variety of projects with multiple CIMA+’s top clients delivering telecom system designs and network architecture that will meet their critical operation needs. Our telecommunications team is working with several industrial and public clients, including energy, transportation, carriers, and others on a variety of wired and wireless networking applications. If you like diversity, this position is for you. This is a hybrid role that can be based out of our office in Vancouver.
Primary Responsibilities
- Delivering Telecom system designs and engineering documents for projects:
- Develop schematics, and design diagrams,
- Write project scope, proposals, estimates, and budgets,
- Prepare and review engineering documents, specifications, and inspection and testing procedures
- Create bill of materials, and supports ordering through procurement,
- Coordinating, staging and planning installation and commissioning with the client and contractors
- Traveling to site and liaising with internal groups and external contractors and clients
- Responding to information requests from site and completing project documentation including record drawings, calculations, and project return data
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent, along with a Professional Engineering (P.Eng.), or the ability to register as a Professional with EGBC.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in design and implementation of wired and wireless telecom networks in an EPC/EPCM firm or client/owner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization skills and excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Experience in the design of networks at OSI layers 1 to 4 deployed in operation-critical applications.
- Familiar with various telecom system and accessories including:
- Optical transport system (DWDM, MPLS-TP, SONET/SDH),
- Wireless transport system (Microwave, Satellite)
- LAN Switching / VLAN,
- IP/MPLS,
- Firewalling,
- Telecom Power System.
Knowledge in the following fields would be considered an asset:
- Power utility specialized telecom system: Tele-protection, Power Line Carrier (PLC), High Voltage Entrance (HVE),
- Radio access systems (WiMAX, LTE, WiFi, LMR)
- Control and Automation systems: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), SCADA, IEC-61850,
- IT/OT convergence.
The expected salary for this position is from $70,000 to $102,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
