Job Description

Our Water Engineering department provides engineering consulting services to the water and wastewater industry. Typical clients include local municipalities such as the City of Guelph, Region of Waterloo and extending throughout Ontario. CIMA+ typically works on projects that include pumping station assessments, design and construction, water treatment systems, water system planning projects, water modeling projects, asset management, energy optimization, operations support and many other related projects. As a co-op student for our Water Engineering department, you will have the opportunity to provide an engineering support role working with the other engineering staff in various roles on many different projects. These could include inspecting facilities, utilizing water models for planning or problem-solving water systems, performing calculations in support of design, writing reports, or proposals under the supervision of a professional engineer. 

Responsabilities 

  • Participating in design and production of 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit for a variety of water, wastewater and municipal infrastructure projects 
  • Prepare sketches, renderings, technical figures, and calculations for engineering reports and presentations as required 
  • Document, track, and address design comments and drawing markups 
  • Verifying compliance of drawings with appropriate standards, codes, and guidelines 
  • Participate in the preparation of engineering specifications, calculations, and permit applications 
  • Assist in facility inspections 
  • Carry out water modeling analysis 
  • Carry out planning or problem solving for water systems 
  • Perform calculations in support of design 
  • Technical report writing 
  • Proposal preparation 
  • Carry out research assignments, as required 
  • Provide technical assistance to staff, as required

Qualifications

  • Student presently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD 
  • Thorough understanding of construction drawings 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Suite software, Project, Adobe, and Visio 
  • Technical report writing skills 
  • Experience carrying out quantity and cost assessments 
  • Unrestricted Driver Licence 
  • Own Transportation Required 
  • Experience with Civil3D, Revit, Solidworks, or MicroStation (asset)  
  • Experience in water or wastewater (asset) 
  • Experience with electrical or controls CAD (asset) 
  • Previous experience with InfoWater by Innovyze or similar (asset)

The expected salary for this position ranges from $22.50 to $28.00 per hour, depending on your academic program, the number of credits earned, and your previous co-op or internship experience. The final offer and salary may be adjusted based on your unique profile.
