Job Description

We are looking for a Road Design Lead to be part of our growing Municipal and Transportation Design team. As the Road Design Lead, you will play a pivotal role in growing our transportation engineering team in Southwestern Ontario, overseeing the design and development of road infrastructure projects.  

This role will be initially supported by the existing transportation team located outside Southwestern Ontario, however you will ultimately develop and lead a team of engineers and designers, collaborating closely with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to deliver high-quality road design solutions that meet project requirements and align with industry standards and best practices. 

Our hybrid work model can accommodate flexible work hours and the position can be based out of either our London, Ontario or Kitchener, Ontario offices. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage road design projects from conceptualization through to completion, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and timeline.  
  • Develop and lead our transportation engineering team in Southwestern Ontario. 
  • Develop and maintain a strategic growth plan for the transportation team in SW Ontario.  
  • Develop client relationships, develop leads, and secure contracts to achieve business objectives, sales goals, and client satisfaction.  
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams in the preparation of proposals within the region, participating in the review of bid and pricing strategies.  
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to obtain approvals, permits, and clearances for road design projects. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field 
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation  
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience with proven track record of managing and successful delivery of multi-disciplinary projects in Southwestern Ontario 
  • Experience delivering projects with City of London, Kitchener, Waterloo and /or Waterloo Region would be highly preferred  
  • Knowledge and experience in the delivery of major road projects  
  • Proven business development skills, including experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base 
  • Experience in strategic planning, team management, quality and budget control 
  • Leadership skills and ability to develop and mobilize a team 
  • Strong experience of road design using 3D modelling tools, such as Civil 3D 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders 
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment 
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality and professionalism in all aspects of work
