Job Description

CGG is seeking a highly motivated OpenStack Platform architect to help evolve our global cloud platforms. You will be part of a global team responsible for architecting and evolving CGG’s OpenStack HPC cloud platform. The ideal candidate would have a deep technical understanding of OpenStack best practices.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Architect, and enhance existing CGG’s OpenStack HPC cloud Platforms.
  • Develop technology solutions that meet the current and future needs of CGG.
  • Design customized OpenStack architectures tailored to our workload in collaboration with compute, network, and storage vendors. This includes CPU and GPU compute, interconnect, and storage components.
  • Assist with certification processes to ensure compliance.
  • Work alongside Global network architects to design networks to support CCG’s OpenStack Platform.
  • Ensure optimal deployment of production solutions.
  • Function as a high-level expert who can deal with escalated Cloud hardware & software issues.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst our operations teams.
  • Design and perform benchmarks to evaluate products, solutions, and vendors.
  • Support procurement of system components by evaluating technologies/sources, preparing specifications, and evaluating proposals
  • Documenting all OpenStack architecture components, configurations, and changes in the Enterprise Architecture tool.
  • Maintaining and updating the Enterprise Architecture tool to reflect changes in the OpenStack infrastructure.
  • Working closely with IT leadership to develop and maintain OpenStack architecture standards, documentation, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5-years’ experience in architecting and deploying OpenStack Platforms preferably for HPC.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Applied Science, or related field.
  • A background in High-performance Computing
  • Extensive expertise in compute, networking and storage, in both hardware (CPUs, accelerators, interconnects, storage, etc.) and software (Linux components, HPC tools and parallel file systems).
  • Extensive experience with Linux.
  • Proficient automation skills with multiple configuration management systems such as Terraform, Ansible, or other similar tools.
  • Experience with git and git workflows
  • Proficient skills in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment.
  • Experience with Ceph Object storage
  • Experience with Compliance Certifications like ISO or SOC
  • Proven experience in fixing operational issues for large-scale infrastructures.
  • Experience using and adapting to new technologies.
  • Experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
