Job Description

CGG is looking for a Linux System administrator for implementing and maintaining our cloud HPC infrastructure in operational condition (both hardware and software), participating to system improvements and hardware & software products lifecycles, with many different stakeholders (solution architects, platform architects, network architects, cybersecurity experts) in a dynamic and exciting working environment. 

Your main responsibilities:

HPC Cloud Infrastructure Maintenance:  

  • Manage the day-to-day system administration of HPC Cloud infrastructure (compute capacity – CPU and accelerators), storage environments and associated interconnect/network infrastructure,
  • Install and maintain hardware and deploy Linux and other software components,  

User Support:

Collaborate with the Customer eXperience Group and Operation Technical Account Manager, to provide technical assistance to end-customer including diagnosing/troubleshooting system and application software problems and compiling, installing, and/or developing scientific or engineering software in a Linux environment. 

Documentation:

Write and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, troubleshooting guides to facilitate knowledge sharing and team collaboration.  

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience required with an exposure to Linux cluster system and administration, including diagnosing/troubleshooting system (hardware) and application software problems
  • Demonstrated experience in Bash or Python scripting, with software building and configuration tools (e.g., makefiles)
  • Experience with virtualized environment (Proxmox, qemu, KVM…)
  • Experience dealing with physical hardware automation
  • Good understanding of data-center networks: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, IPv6, firewall, BGP and network virtualization
  • Experience with storage management and configuration (storage appliances, JBOD...) and with Linux network filesystems (NFS)
  • Good communication skills internally with cross-functional teams
  • Fluency in French and English is mandatory with our international environment.

Knowledge of HPC (High Performance computing) is a plus:

  • job scheduler configuration and management (SLURM), 
  • HPC related low latency interconnect,
  • HPC oriented parallel filesystems,
  • HPC development environment in general (compilers, specialized libraries…)

Knowledge of cloud software ecosystem is a plus:

  • OpenStack understanding
  • Containers and their automation
