Job Description

CGG is looking for a Presales Engineer – Solution Architect. Working as part of the ‘HPC&CS Presales and Benchmarking Team’, you will be responsible for technical customer engagements, and you act as a key trusted advisor.

  • Internally, you will support both ‘Sales Team’ and ‘Business Development Manager’ during presales activities, influencing calls for tender.
  • Externally, you will work with end-customer to understand and help them to solve their business use case and demonstrate the technical merits of the proposed solution. You will articulate the full offering portfolio of CGG HPC&CS to design, and then deploy solution.

Your role will be to understand and anticipate, from a technology and performance point of view, the business needs of customers, prospects, and specialized and vertical ecosystems, create and implement value-added solutions, develop proofs of concept (PoC) and prove the technical and commercial value of the proposed solutions (PoV).

This customer-facing position is a hands-on technical position covering design, implementation, and operations. In this role, you will work closely with HPC&CS technical and operational teams and with support from HPC&CS operations.

Main responsibilities :

  • Supporting Sales and Business Development Manager running technical meetings;
  • Designing solution collaborating with a wider teams of internal architects and experts to review and deliver solution;
  • Answering RFPs writing proposals and drafting contracts;
  • Delivering hands-on workshops to provide the necessary positioning and demonstration of the benefits of CGG Cloud Infrastructure;
  • Designing and orchestrating proof-of-concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate the benefits of CGG Cloud Infrastructure;
  • Running performance benchmarks time-to-time;
  • Demonstrating a strong sense of communication, being comfortable to run presentation in front an unknown audience, both internally as well as externally, defending technical and financial proposal;
  • Connecting the dots between technological constraints and business objectives.

In addition, in this role, you will be the voice of the customer. You will provide feedback to product engineering teams, helps define and improve the offering portfolio, and influences the roadmap and technical decisions.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor degree (or equivalent) preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or scientific domain.
  • At least 5Y experience in an equivalent position, in the HPC and/or AI industry.
  • Strong experience,
    • in design/setup/deployment of Linux based HPC and AI Clusters and/or Cloud Infrastructure (experience with Microsoft Windows is a plus),
    • with a broad range of HPC and AI applications or frameworks, both open-source solutions and ISV, including common (industry) performance benchmarks.
  • Knowledge of technologies related to HPC and AI,
    • TCP/IP fundamentals, RDMA, InfiniBand, cluster networking and running MPI jobs ,
    • distributed/parallel file systems and storage fundamentals,
    • working knowledge of and GPU applications. 
  • Beyond his/her undisputed scientific and technical skills and his/her extended scientific and technological culture, demonstrate both strong presentation and communication skills and business acumen.
  • Passion for communication and education.
  • Strong customer-focused approach that emphasizes active and ongoing dialogue with partners, prospects, and customers.
  • Openminded, able to think out of the box, with a sense of creativity and a proven commitment to operational results.
  • Fluency in French and English languages.
