Job Description
We're looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join our Geology team in the Middle East.
You will report to the Middle East Geoscience Manager and will be working closely with the Geology Manager. You will be primarily responsible for the leadership of CGG’s Geology business in the Middle East. The role will focus on the growth of the business within the region and operational leadership of the existing teams. They will be responsible for strategic growth of the existing teams and future expansion into new technical areas. They will develop a clear vision and strategy in order to build on CGG’s success in the region.
Principal Accountabilities
Leadership
- To scope, oversee and drive projects within CGG that will continually set new standards for the industry. They will direct and support project teams to deliver high technical excellence that consistently exceeds client expectations. They will lead the development of new workflows and technologies that provide differentiation for CGG and will have a strong focus on developing a high performing team using development strategies that ensure the motivation, engagement and innovation of all staff. As a leader of a growing business they will need to collaborate across the CGG network in order to maximise the value of Geology to the company.
Business Development & Marketing skills
- The candidate should be developing business opportunities regionally, identifying where CGG could provide complementary support to client’s goals in a collaborative way. They should have extensive technical knowledge and business development skills to network and identify the right market and clients for this business/initiative. They must also be willing to visit customers to build relationships, gain insights and support project meetings. The successful candidate will need to build the profile of the business externally including marketing content, web content and conference material in order to position CGG well in this region.
Excellent Interpersonal Skills
- The successful candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills. They must be able to gain the confidence of the geoscience teams and adopt a supportive, progressive approach in order to mentor and develop knowledge. They must lead with their clear vision for CGG, in-line with Geoscience’s strategy and be able to motivate others regarding this.
Innovation
- The candidate must actively lead, encourage and promote the adoption and development of new technologies and workflows within the group. They must encourage teams to develop new ideas and concepts that could bring value to our clients and the business. The candidate must not be afraid of actively encouraging and developing ideas outside of conventional disciplines in order to be at the forefront of the discipline globally.
Qualifications
- BSc in STEM sciences, but ideally with an additional MSc or PhD.
Skills and Experiences
- Highly technical with excellent project and team management skills.
- Self-starter with good time management, organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and excellent interpersonal skills.
