Job Description

The Technical Business Development Manager (TBDM) is to be based at our Abu Dhabi geoscience centre and will be responsible for growing an industry leading Geology Services business across the Middle East region. In order to achieve our ambitions, we need a TBDM who can proactively identify customer needs, maintain strong long-term client relationships, understand and promote our value differentiators and ultimately secure profitable and repeatable work for CGG.

Working in collaboration with the Geology technical team and the wider Geoscience business lines, the TBDM must foster close internal relationships to ensure we are solving our client challenges with a value-based consultative approach to client engagement. The ideal candidate will have a proven technical geoscience background which should also be complemented with experience in previous customer facing roles.

 

  Main Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an in-depth knowledge of our products and services, with strong emphasis on the value our differentiators bring to the market
  • Understand, monitor and communicate internally client activity, challenges and business drivers
  • Evaluate the market and competitive landscape and understand the relative strengths and weaknesses of CGG and the opportunities and threats that present themselves
  • Identify strategic clients, understand their organisation and build and maintain strong relationships with key client influencers
  • Proactively generate new leads and track and manage all opportunities using the appropriate systems of record
  • Promote the value of our services through attendance at conferences, regular marketing trips, client meetings and presentations
  • Manage key client accounts, including after sales support and upselling of opportunities
  • Provide input into the regional sales and marketing plans
  • Manage all elements of the bid and tender process including price setting and ensure submission of a fully compliant, fit for purpose, competitive bid that meets client expectations
  • Act as focal point for client negotiations and clarifications

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Significant years relevant industry experience (Middle East preferred), incorporating both technical and sales related disciplines
  • Existing relationships with potential clients within the region
  • Qualified to BSc level in Geology, Geoscience or Geophysics
  • A willingness to be based at the CGG Abu Dhabi geoscience centre and to travel as required around the Middle East region
  • A strong command of the English language both oral and written, including an ability to communicate and understand complex technical, commercial and legal terms and conditions
  • A proactive approach to pursuing business opportunities with an ability to generate new leads with minimal supervision
  • A team player with experience working in diverse and multi-cultural environments
