The Rock Physics Researcher role is with the Tech+ department that is responsible for innovation and research across global Geoscience.  This is a technical role in R&D.  The main responsibility will be researching, developing, testing, and industrializing reservoir characterization workflows that rely on rock physics for integration of geological and seismic information. They will also participate in or support projects worldwide where those workflows are employed.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• R & D
  • Research, develop, test, and industrialise reservoir characterization workflows that rely on rock physics for integration of geological and seismic information.
  • Develop and ensure strong integration between petrophysics, rock physics and geomechanics workflows within CGG Geoscience team.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with state-of-the-art innovative technologies linked to rock physics that can add value to CGG Geoscience business.
  • Lead the innovation of new workflows and technologies that provide differentiation for CGG.
  • Ensure all technical work has been performed to an excellent standard, which exceeds Client expectations and is compliant Client objectives.
  • Provide support as needed across CGG Geoscience business.

  • The candidate requires good communication and presentation skills, to ensure that complex technical information in conveyed in a clear and concise way.

Relevant Qualifications/Work Experience:

• Discipline expertise in rock physics, with additional knowledge of petrophysics, geomechanics and reservoir geology.
• Graduate level role - PhD or MSc in one of the above disciplines.
• Relevant work experience is an advantage.
• Coding experience in C, C++ and Python.
• Self-starter with good time management, organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and excellent interpersonal skills.
