Job Description

As an Azure Administrator, you will be responsible for daily monitoring, deployment, and administration of our Azure production and development environments. You will work closely with other members of the technology team and assist in the delivery and monitoring of new client-facing solutions. Reporting to the Cloud Architect, you will be part of the Earth Data Digital Solutions team. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in the deployment of cloud solutions to meet client obligations and deadlines
  • Create and maintain solution documentation
  • Manage Azure identities and governance
  • Deploy and manage storage
  • Build and configure virtual machines
  • Implement SQL and NoSQL platforms
  • Configure and manage virtual networks
  • Assist in the rollout of new Azure-based solutions
  • Deploy and maintain backups
  • Continually review and reduce cloud costs
  • Review and recommend security implementations
  • Monitor uptime and availability of Azure production and development environments
  • Maintain active knowledge of the latest Azure technologies and updates applicable to our usage and requirements

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

  • Broad and fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Azure with demonstratable experience in deploying and administrating IaaS and PaaS services.
  • Practical experience in deploying to Azure Web App Services and other container-based technologies (Container instances, AKS, Docker Desktop, App Services) is desirable
  • Good understanding of Azure networking, routing, and security concepts
  • Able to engage in architectural discussions and demonstrate Azure competency
  • Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Git experience would be beneficial
  • Comfortable deploying cloud infrastructure from code, templates, or scripts
  • Basic Python, Bash or another scripting language would also be desirable
  • Network penetration, audit testing experience
  • Must be comfortable taking part in discussions with internal stakeholders and external clients to discuss existing and/or new cloud projects
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux servers is desirable
  • Experience in support activities, communicating to customers and supporting their requests
  • Three years' work experience preferred

Education

  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification recommended unless the candidate can sufficiently demonstrate their Azure experience in a discussion
  • Bachelor's degree in computing or a related discipline or relevant professional experience
