Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Center Facility Engineer to join our HPC team! 

The successful candidate will work with the Data Center Facility Manager and will be responsible to support the maintenance of data center equipment and all related infrastructure systems.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Carry out specialist technical and non-technical work as deemed appropriate to the continuing maintenance function of the data center
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with safe systems of work and permit to work procedures
  • Carry out risk assessments for ad-hoc activities and monitor of day-to-day implementation of safe working procedures and safe systems of work
  • Permitting subcontractor visits
  • Offer technical support and back up as required
  • Ensure all personnel and contractors that may be working in hazardous areas take all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment
  • Use all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works
  • To undertake basic “handy man duties” which would include touching up paintwork, tightening hinges, install/repair blinds, changing locks ,making minor repairs to cabinets , desks , and putting together small equipment like chairs etc.
  • To undertake plumbing activities including but not limited to clearing blockages, attending to burst pipes, replacing components, servicing systems etc.
  • Liaising with the contract management team
  • Carry out and/or adhere to any reasonable request made by CGG Management
  • To comply with CGG policies on Health & Safety, COSHH and other statutory legislation

This role will be required to be on-call

Qualifications

  • NVQ level 2 Electrical (or similar)
  • 17th Edition 7671
  • Specialist knowledge of engineering systems and plant of various age and technology
  • Ability to independently solve all degrees of engineering problems.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Health & Safety experience
  • CAFM systems experience
  • Flexible approach to working with the ability to think ‘outside of the box’
  • Good knowledge of general building services
  • Experience in monitoring deadlines and performance in-line with required standards outlined within a contract
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with both internal and external customers.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to manage tight time constraints and prioritise workload
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills with strong self-motivation.
  • Good level of IT literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, smart phone use
