Job Description

CGG is seeking a High-Performance Computing (HPC) architect with OpenStack experience to design and deploy a multi-tenant OpenStack cloud. You will be part of a global team responsible for architecting, deploying and evolving CGG’s OpenStack HPC cloud. The ideal candidate would have a deep technical understanding of HPC (both compute & storage) and OpenStack.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, implement and Enhance CGG OpenStack HPC cloud.
  • Design customized HPC architectures tailored to our workload in collaboration with compute and storage vendors. This includes CPU and GPU compute, interconnect, and storage components.
  • Develops technology solutions that meet the current and future needs of CGG.
  • Design and perform benchmarks to evaluate products, solutions and vendors.
  • Ensure optimal deployment of production solutions.
  • Function as a high-level expert who can deal with escalated HPC hardware & software issues.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst our operations teams.
  • Supports procurement of system components by evaluating technologies/sources, preparing specifications, and evaluating proposals

 

For this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a remote scheme, with occasional working from our Redhill office based on business needs.  Further details can be discussed with the Hiring Manager at interview stage.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Applied Science or related field.
  • Strong background in all aspects of High-performance Computing
  • 3 to 5-year experience in architecting and deploying OpenStack preferably for HPC.
  • 3 to 5-year experience in designing and implementing large-scale HPC architectures.
  • Extensive expertise in HPC compute and storage, in both hardware (CPUs, accelerators, interconnects, storage, etc.) and software (Linux components, HPC tools and parallel file systems).
  • Extensive experience with Linux.
  • Proficient automation skills with at least one configuration management system such as Puppet, Ansible, or other similar tools.
  • Experience with git and git workflows
  • Proficient skills in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment
  • Experience with Ceph Object storage
  • Proven experience in fixing operational issues for large-scale HPC infrastructures.
  • Experience using and adapting to new technologies.
  • Experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
