The employee will join CGG Satellite Mapping, part of CGG’s Energy Transition Environment (ETE) business line based in Edenbridge, UK.

We harness the unique capabilities of Earth observation satellites, providing innovative mapping and monitoring solutions, and access to the best imagery and elevation data, across a variety of applications and markets including Energy, Mining, Engineering, Environment and Defense.

This team is expanding rapidly, with a diverse collection of roles opening up through 2021 and 2022.

Job Description

Working within the IT team, the employee will be responsible for maintaining code and systems created by CGG Satellite Mapping’s developers and used by its operational teams. The role will also assist the existing developers in deployment tasks, whilst ensuring that there is adequate documentation for continuity of operations.

Main Accountabilities: 

  • Maintain code and systems created by CGG Satellite Mapping’s developers, including software updates associated operating system version changes.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation.
  • Support operational deployment of software.

Person Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm to interact with the team and across disciplines at CGG Satellite Mapping.
  • Ability to work well both in a team and independently (where required).
  • Ability to take initiative and to communicate well to solve problems.

Qualifications

  • Suitable to candidates with at least a BSc (or equivalent) in Computer Science or similar technical field, with experience of:
    • Linux (especially Debian)
    • Python
    • Bash
    • HTML/PHP/Javascript
    • Relational Databases i.e. PostgreSQL (& PostGIS)
    • An appreciation of Containers
    • An appreciation of GIS/Geography/Cartography
