Job Description

Reporting to the UK Network Team Leader this position provides WAN, LAN and firewall device and architecture installation, support, monitoring, maintenance and documentation for the CGG data/voice/video network and actively participates in network projects as part of the regional and global network teams.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Maintain WAN connectivity between all locations; deploy and configure routers and security firewalls
  • Participate in the design and implementation of the global network infrastructure
  • Assist in cross-functional projects
  • Monitor and maintain the health and general condition of the WAN and datacentre networks
  • Deliver fault isolation and troubleshooting on network systems
  • Assist in developing network hardware and software configuration standards
  • Collaborate with the network team to develop recommendations concerning equipment life cycle and replacement
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures on a daily basis
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation and procedures
  • Interface with vendors and their technicians on a global basis
  • Provide support and installation to customers domestically and internationally

We are seeking a candidate who is fluent in English, including having a full understanding of technical language as it relates to network design and hardware. Any additional language skills would be beneficial, but is not required. There will be a degree of travel in this role, therefore the successful candidate would need to be willing and available for domestic and international travel. The successful candidate will also be able to participate in an on-call rotation and occasionally work after hours/ weekends.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience supporting high performance, high availability network architecture in an enterprise environment. 
  • Experience supporting firewalls / global VPN architecture, particularly Juniper SRX / Cisco ASA firewalls
  • Strong knowledge of key networking protocols used in the design and operation of the network and of routing protocols including OSPF, BGP and GRE
  • Assist with WAN design, implementation and monitoring
  • Exposure to QoS in a WAN environment
  • Knowledge of campus LAN, WiFi networks and using the CLI to manage devices, including Linux CLI
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply that knowledge to the current environment
  • Willingness to participate in a dynamic team
  • Ability to work autonomously and using own initiative

Desired

  • Experience in supporting multiple vendor network hardware (for example Arista, Aruba/HP, Cisco)
  • Exposure to multiple vendor firewall technologies (for example Juniper, Cisco, PaloAlto, Checkpoint)
  • Aruba wireless networking experience
  • Experience with network monitoring platforms
  • Exposure to SDWAN technologies
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems and programming/scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby
  • Knowledge of network automation frameworks and tools such as Ansible
  • Background in supporting VoIP and video conferencing on a global network
  • Ability to interface with the business and convert requirements into workable solutions
