Become Part of our Team

We are looking for enthusiastic and talented individuals to join our Environmental Science team based in South-East England (other European locations where CGG has offices would also be considered). This part of our business is expanding rapidly, and there are a number of opportunities available to support the collection, integration and analysis of data in order to derive insights and intelligence to mitigate environmental risks.

Depending on the combination of skills and experience that each candidate brings, there will be the opportunity to contribute to technical research, developments, product commercialisation, and commercial projects. The environmental science team collaborates with the CGG business lines that span a range of technical disciplines, including satellite remote sensing, laboratory analysis, geology, geophysics and digital.

There are a  number of available roles, including full-time permanent & full-time fixed term contracts.

Qualifications

The role is most suited to those who are currently working on a PhD, those who have recently completed an MSc or PhD in the topics as listed below, or candidates that that have industry experience and are interested in immediately embarking on a new opportunity.

  • Environmental Science (including but not limited to Habitat and/or species mapping, use of climate scenario models, pollution monitoring, Biodiversity, Land use, Deforestation & re-forestation, Environmental risk), Environmental policy, Nature-based solutions, ESG, Oceanography, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics

Key Skills & Competencies

You will be experienced at working with environmental data, data processes, software and databases. The successful candidate will benefit from having some of the skills identified below:

  • Dual background of data science and environmental science
  • Knowledgeable of specific hazards to the environment/health of Earth’s inhabitants and be able to create solutions to monitor them/protect the environment from them
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, especially focused on finding new solutions to data identification, ingestion, consistency, loading, and output problems
  • Understanding of data analysis and visualisation tools (R and/or Python)
  • Good knowledge of GIS analysis tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability and willingness to guide less experienced colleagues
  • Good understanding in statistics and machine learning model building
  • The ability to define and manage project deadlines
  • An enthusiastic attitude towards learning and flexibility to adapt to new challenges or changes in direction
